The forensic interviewer will conduct forensic interviews of child victims of crime, consistent with the agency's policies and procedures and practice standards for the Child Advocacy Center (CAC). The interviewer will document and provide accurate and timely information as required. This position plays a key role in the Child Advocacy Center and is a key member of the Agency's Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). Specific responsibilities of the position include:


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conduct forensic interviews using evidence supported interview protocol

  • Communicate with children who participate in forensic interviews using a developmentally and culturally competent appropriate approach

  • Participate in pre-interview meetings with relevant members of the MDT to receive information about the child

  • Participate in post-interview meetings with the child's legal guardian(s) and other MDT members

  • Utilize interpreters and interview aids on an as needed basis

  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning team meetings, supervision and other staff development activities

  • Maintain positive collaborative relationships with referral sources and key community providers

  • Attend meetings and court proceedings as required

  • Utilize the agency's electronic health record (EHR) system to ensure proper and timely completion of all required clinical documentation, program statistics, and outcome data

  • Other related activities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:


  • Knowledge and basic skills in counseling practices and methods

  • Proficient in planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting activities conducted

  • Communicates effectively in writing and verbally to prepare written and electronic documents

  • Open to receiving and utilizing constructive feedback regarding performance, presentation and relationships with others

  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner

  • High degree of self-awareness to effectively weigh and evaluate personal needs, client needs, and the aims and policies of the agency, and to respond and negotiate these competing needs as appropriate

  • The ability to establish rapport and work well with victims of abuse while always advocating in the best interest of the child

  • Cross-cultural competence and sensitivity required to succeed in agency committed to working with a diverse population and to continuing to build staff diversity (EOE)
