The Custodian 2 position will perform various housekeeping, custodial, and maintenance-related tasks to ensure and maintain proper cleanliness of Olympic College facilities. Reporting to the Custodian 4, performs the primary Custodial Services activities of Olympic College. This position performs assigned duties to provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable learning, and work environment at Olympic College. Follows procedures and guidelines as directed by the Custodial Services Manager and the Crew Leader. Promptly completes training assigned. Performs cleaning tasks in both Zone and Team Cleaning assignments. Meets productivity goals. Implements daily compliance with all safety training and policy.

Essential Functions



  • Perform job duties energetically but provide for safety first.

  • According to the task frequencies set by the Custodial Services Manager; cleans whiteboards, dusts and wipes furniture, sweeps, mops and vacuums floors, washes interior and exterior glass, cleans doors and handrails, empty wastebaskets and recycling containers and adjust clock settings. Cleans all other surfaces and objects according to the frequencies

  • Uses the Compuclean system to plan and perform projects, request supplies, perform inventory tasks, account for inventory, perform work requests, request equipment repairs, account for equipment and locations of equipment, access online SDS sheets for authorized chemicals, and may perform quality assurance assignments and other duties within this system under the direction of the Custodial Services Manager.

  • Performs deep cleaning methods to strip floors and refinish floors; uses and maintains Hard floor maintenance equipment,

  • Extracts carpets and furnishings according to the frequencies determined by the Custodial Services Manager, applies protectant to extracted carpets and upholstery.

  • Removes, installs, cleans and maintains product dispensing equipment such as soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other dispensers as assigned. Changes batteries, tests for proper operation, adjusts dispensing quantities.

  • Cleans and maintains plumbing fixtures; changes batteries in automated faucets, urinals and toilets, removes and cleans aerators/screens, installs automatic flush valves, tests fixtures and adjust for proper operation.

  • Uses ladders and associated appropriate equipment to clean windows, overhead lighting and air diffusers, exposed pipe, ventilation and other elevated building attributes.

  • Performs minor wall repairs to fix damage caused by the removal of dispensing equipment or by normal wear and tear. May prepare surfaces for minor touch­up painting, renewal of caulking in bathrooms, showers, and kitchens.

  • Responsible to regularly inspect and report non-custodial maintenance needs such as broken or stained ceiling tiles, lights, ADA repairs, and worn or broken building attributes that cannot be cleaned or sanitized properly.

  • Inventories, moves and stocks materials and supplies, using the Compuclean System and appropriate equipment for material handling.

  • Moves furniture and equipment, arranges tables and chairs for classrooms, conferences and events.

  • Repairs and performs maintenance of tools and equipment.

  • Transports trash to the compactor; operates trash compactor.

  • Performs recycling in accordance with approved guidelines and according to the procedures and guidelines set by the Custodial Services Manager.

  • Seasonally may be assigned to using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or outside debris and to sweep sidewalks, stairs and pressure wash walkways and other surfaces as assigned. May occasionally perform yard and garden duties such as weeding and raking leaves and empty trash receptacles located outside within college grounds.

  • Set up and Breakdown of events, including Tables, Chairs, and related items.

  • Be on standby during event to handle spills and remove trash.

  • Assist event personnel as appropriate to ensure success.

  • Performs a limited scope of interior painting of small offices/spaces. May be assigned to a crew for cleaning and painting on larger projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications



  • High School Graduation or equivalent

  • Six months to one (1) year full-time equivalent (FTE) experience in custodial.

  • Basic computer skills for the purpose of entering time, entering work order information into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), taking training, sending and responding to work emails, and using the Compuclean system.

  • Basic math skills required to calculate the correct quantity, mixture, and handling of cleaning chemicals.

  • Valid, unrestricted Driver's License.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Previous Team Cleaning experience.

  • General or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work; preferably in a public facility.

  • Defensive Driving Certificate (National Safety Council)

  • Possess the ability to lift and carry 50lbs.

  • Possess the ability to work on ladders, stairwells, in enclosed elevators and mechanical spaces.

Terms of EmploymentThis is a full-time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $35,280 - $46,596. Most classified positions will start their salary at Step A when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union.
