Job Description:




Budget Title: Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator (SL-3)




Salary: Commensurate with experience




The Physical Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the efforts of Facilities Management to reduce physical barriers to access for people with disabilities.




Duties:





  • Perform a variety of research, analysis and administrative studies related to campus projects including organizational improvement, and budget/feasibility studies.

  • Participate in design reviews to identify potential physical barriers & suggest options to mitigate.

  • Conduct field inspections to identify existing barriers. Evaluate problem areas and uses available information to develop recommendations.

  • Summarize and presents recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Coordinate Facilities' response to work orders related to disability access.

  • Serve as Facilities Management's ADA compliance manager and coordinator on assigned projects related to design, implementation and modification of new or existing buildings & infrastructure.

  • Develop work plans, timelines and resource allocations for assigned projects.

  • Monitor progress to ensure objectives of the University's ADA objectives are being met.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with campus departments and groups such as Services for Students with Disabilities and the Disabled Student Union.

  • Meet regularly with representatives from SSD to receive feedback on projects and other issues.

  • May serve on campus committees as a permanent or ad hoc member.

  • Monitor and improve the physical access to campus infrastructure (buildings, classrooms, parking).

  • Develop and maintains a centralized database for receiving and addressing customer service request for barrier removal, and coordinating tracking and follow-up of the resolution.

  • Provide guidance to staff regarding issues relating to disabilities and accommodation.

  • Receive and process work orders related to accommodation requests.

  • Organize information, prepare reports, analyze specific program guidelines, and assesses progress. Evaluate data against program criteria and compliance standards.






Requirements:




Visa sponsorship is not available for this position





  • Associate's degree in a relevant field

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Facilities Management, project coordination, or design related to accessibility improvement

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical drawings

  • Familiarity with ADA, NYS Building Code, and other laws addressing the rights of people with disabilities

  • Knowledge of project management principles

  • Personal computer literacy - a high level of computer proficiency in a variety of software programs including CMMS and spreadsheet applications

  • Possess a valid driver's license

  • Ability to work cooperatively with clients

  • Organizational and analytical skills




Preferred:





  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

  • Experience with people with a broad range of disabilities

  • Familiarity with campus structure, programs and employees

  • Familiarity with disability groups

  • Experience with scheduling software
