Augusta University's Katherine Reese Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences' Department of Communication is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Integrated Strategic Communication/Communication Studies, anticipated to begin August 1, 2024. We seek individuals who can teach three (3) courses per semester. Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. or M.F.A. at the time the position beings in August 2024. Responsibilities


  • Teaching three (3) assigned courses in integrated strategic communication/communication studies per semester

  • Conducting peer-reviewed research

  • Providing service for the department, college, university, and the social work profession





Required Qualifications


MFA or Ph.D. in communication, mass communication, communication studies, or media studies, or a closely related discipline.



Assistant Professor- Terminal degree (or nearing its completion), or its equivalent in training, ability, and/or experience.




  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;

  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits


This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter an annual contract.


The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0. and considered full-time


Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
