Job Description:

Who We Are:


The Heavy Duty Engine Lab of the Commercial Vehicle Systems Department is responsible for conducting emissions and fuel efficiency measurements of Diesel, Gasoline and alternative fueled engines. We support OEMs, Tier 1 Suppliers and Government agencies in evaluating future powertrain systems. By joining our team, you will receive $500 on you first paycheck (minus applicable taxes).


Objectives of this Role:


  • Assist with the division and department goals by providing electronic and instrumentation support for engine testing and certification.

  • Assist with the construction of new test cells by installing electronic circuits, controls and instrumentation.

  • Assist and lead with the implementation, maintenance diagnostics and repair of all test cell electronic and instrumentation systems.

  • Provide valued input on advance systems to further improve on test cell operations and controls.


Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:


  • Work with SwRI staff and vendors for identifying and implementing electronic and instrumentation hardware used for test cell operations and support equipment.

  • Work with design staff to integrate control software, controllers and data acquisition systems.

  • Diagnose, repair and implement improvements to current electronic and instrumentation systems.

  • Follow written and verbal instructions, work overtime and shift work when needed. Perform all other duties as requested by management and team leads.

  • Demonstrate desire and willingness to learn new skills and work productively with all team members while taking lead when necessary.


Requirements:


  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Electronics training or certification preferred.

  • Shift work required.

  • 2-5 years: Hands on experience experience working with electronic components.

  • 2-5 years: Experience with interpreting schematics, electronic diagrams and operators/owners manuals.

  • 2-5 years: Experience and or training with using a voltmeter, oscilloscope and other electronic tools.

  • 2-5 years: Working on building or repairing circuit boards and various soldering techniques.

  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
