Responsibilities
Actively participate as a member on new product development teams to ensure product designs meet global agency, standards, and regulatory requirements. Accountable to obtain certifications per project plan.
Troubleshoot and make recommendations on product design, technical explanations, and/or standards interpretation where needed throughout the product development and certification processes
Coordinate with engineering teams as well as third party laboratories to support preparation of samples, development of test plans, and testing of MSA products.
Work directly with external parties such as notified bodies, testing laboratories and government agencies as necessary depending on product group during the certification process.
Review compliance impact of new and modified designs, including review and recommendations related to engineering documentation submitted to third parties. Ensure product modifications are compliant and approved, updating certifications as needed.
Lead and/or support standards and regulation compliance activities for MSA products. Monitor and communicate internal and external trends that relate to potential standards, regulatory, and compliance changes as needed
Identify and implement continuous improvement in processes and tools related to product compliance and certification management, including development of best practices, templates, and reports
Provide support to all certification and department related activities regardless of product group, which may include but is not limited to agency audits, production line requirements, and customer service
Travel (Domestic & International) <25% required

Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering or textile/polymer discipline, preferably from an ABET accredited program.
This position is available at three different career levels, based upon experience, education, etc.:
Level one: minimum 3 years relevant experience
Level two: minimum 5 years relevant experience
Level three: minimum 7 years relevant experience
Level four: minimum 10 years relevant experience
MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience. PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of experience
Education and Experience Preferred:
Supplemental education in Textiles/Polymers/Chemistry
Experience in obtaining product, quality, and/or process certifications via third parties
Experience in product testing and/or product performance evaluation to standards
Product design experience with safety products or other regulated products
Quality management experience (such as document control, auditing, or continuous improvement)
Experience with product safety standards and regulations such as NFPA, ANSI, 42 CFR Part 84 (NIOSH), CSA or similar
Participation in standards development committees
