Overview
The Department of Physics personnel rely on the Logistics Coordinator, and the Logistics Assistant, for the daily flow of all of the commercial traffic into and out of Jadwin Hall, which ensures deliveries and pickups.
Responsibilities
Reports to the Purchasing and Logistics Manager
Assist Logistics Coordinator, Shipping, Receiving, and Loading Dock in daily activity
Assist CryoVacChem Operator with helium and nitrogen operations, including daily meter readings, dewar fills, etc.
Assist both the Manager of UG lab & demos and the Freshman lab technician with duties as needed for course preparations
Works with other members in the group as needed such as our Stockroom attendant and purchasing team
Communicate daily with department members regarding deliveries
Use of pallet jack, carts
Load and unload boxes
Use of hand tools to assemble / disassemble crates, furniture etc.
Assemble items such as office chairs that arrive in parts
Deliver copy paper within the department to copier stations
Occasional event set up and take down assistance
May need to remove snow from our department van and the tank farm.
May need to sweep dock area
Check empty cylinders on dock and note cylinder inventory
Restock inventory
Process all deliveries and ship items as needed
Deliver items to the Chemistry department at multiple times throughout the day
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be able to lift, bend, carry 50-100 pounds
Proficiency computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel and etc.) plus web-based programs
Must be flexible and have a great customer service attitude, along with a “front of the house” face for our Faculty/Researchers/Students/Visitors
Proven ability for attention to detail, multi-tasking, problem solving, and prioritizing jobs
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in both a team environment and individual basis
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and successfully work in a constantly changing environment, which may require extended hours during peak times of the year
Frequently use hands for lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling
Squat, kneel, climb, reach overhead, or lift overhead occasionally
Climb stairs, climb a 6-foot ladder, shovel snow, and work outdoors as needed
Possess full range of body motions and physical agility.
