Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a talented Estimator to join the team and contribute to their continued success in the commercial construction industry. The Estimator will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase, providing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
Conduct material take-offs and quantity surveys to determine the materials, labor, and equipment needed for each project.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and obtain competitive pricing.
Analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to evaluate pricing, qualifications, and scope of work.
Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs without sacrificing quality.
Assist in the development of project schedules and construction phasing plans.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and project documentation.
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, PlanSwift, OnScreen Takeoff) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Knowledge of local building regulations and permit processes in the Greater Philadelphia area is a plus.
