Job Description

NYC Health and Hospitals (H+H) has been tasked to operationalize and manage several Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Center (HERRC) facilities to offer direct service provision, resource navigation, and temporary respite for single adults, adult families, and families with children seeking asylum in the United States.

The Health and Human Service Lead will work in close coordination with H+H internal stakeholders and external stakeholders including the NYC Office of Emergency Management, other city agencies, and diverse community-based organizations.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the daily ongoing administrative an operational needs for Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Center (HERRC) project.
  • Support all aspects of the project lifecycle including planning, scope definition, design, execution and delivery, including development of administrative and operational processes, templates, procedures/protocols and other core documents.
  • Working creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
  • Support management of day-to-day operations and vender management relationships.
  • Support finance team in reporting, documentation and invoice review and operational approval.
  • Providing status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership.
  • Other related duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Educational and/or experience requirements will vary requiring diverse kinds and levels depending on the content, complexity and variety of project. Compensation levels will correspond to the requirements developed for the designated project.

In no event will the acceptable minimum be below:

1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in a specialization discipline consistent with project content; and,

2. Four years of substitutable and relevant health care experience related to the objectives of the project; or,

3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, training and education.

Department Preferences

  • Experience managing a large team
  • Experience managing multiple external contractors/vendors
  • Experience managing a complex operation, particularly a 24/7 operation
  • Experience with community engagement and/or familiarity with local community service providers/non-profits
  • Experience and/or familiarity with legal service provision for immigrants and/or asylum seekers
  • Fluency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with a variety of individuals, groups, and organizations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including ability to tailor technical material to a variety of audiences (e.g., administrative and technical leaders; front-line staff)
  • Ability to maintain a high-level of accuracy, transparency and accountability in all work products
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, trauma-informed service delivery
  • Keen attention to detail, flexibility and an enthusiastic work ethic
