Who we are: The Dallas Federal Funding Accelerator (DFFA) is an initiative of the Child Poverty Action Lab (CPAL). In service of broadening community development and economic mobility, DFFA seeks to maximize federal funding for the Dallas area, which it will do by increasing:
Visibility: Awareness of upcoming federal grant opportunities and high-potential applicants that enables regional coordination even earlier
Capability: All the other tools and know-how needed to apply, manage, and implement a federal grant
Why we need you: Our "capability" strategy entails supporting specific high-impact applications with high need and alignment with our mission. This work will vary depending on the grant and applicants, but could include grant writing, technical assistance, or other forms of project management support. You won't be a grant writer (though you will supervise them and QC their work). Instead, we need someone with broad grant experience to manage the range of active grants DFFA supports. This team member will:
Manage the development of specific inputs across the grants DFFA is actively engaged (e.g., managing grant writers, guiding benefit-cost analysis, developing storyline for narrative sections, identifying sources of supporting data, revising and finalizing applications)
Drive selection of which applications DFFA choses to support
Understand the regional landscape, including the funding needs, capacity, and areas of expertise for multiple local organizations
Identify and engage representatives from multiple external organizations for the purpose of collaboration on grants in development
Provide leadership on scaling our impact across applications, such as deploying internally-developed GenAI tools to generate early drafts
Drive regular coordination meetings with lead applicants and collaborating entities from across the private and social sectors to create winning applications
Qualifications:
Must Have
Experience completing key grant requirements (e.g., community engagement plans, benefit-cost analyses, project budgets)
Excitement to move from active grant writing to proposal management of multiple applicants in flight and "quality checking" the work of outside grant writing support
Eagerness to work with AI to develop new ways of developing grant proposals
Love thinking about economic development and policy issues
Enthusiasm to join a lean and fast-moving team
Nice-to-Have
Familiarity with federal regulations and funding streams
Experience in tracking and reporting organizational activity to a broad audience
Experience working with nonprofit organizations and/or public agencies
Experience training other organizations in grant capabilities
Previous experience working on applications for a variety of federal agencies
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this role starts at $80,000 but is open to negotiation based on the candidate's experience and alignment to job requirements.
