Job Summary



Department-Specific Responsibilities


  • Acts on the IT Director's behalf when he/she is unavailable and will direct the day-to-day activities of the unit as well as represent Luddy interests at the University level.

  • Implements, monitors, and evaluates operational policies and systems.

  • Assists with leading team planning processes, team recruitment efforts, evaluation processes, supervision and training of staff.

  • Provides technical advice, problem-solving assistance, answers to questions regarding program goals and policy interpretation.

  • Supervises approximately 3 full time professional staff members.

  • Partners with the IT Director and collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure IT resources are leveraged to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of all functional area of the Luddy

  • School including student services, administrative services, teaching, research, and Luddy's Fabrication Labs all while ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data entrusted to the School and its employees.

  • Engages in outreach to ensure that new faculty and staff view the IT group as partners in their efforts and as a resource in navigating IU systems and policies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities


  • Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define various information technology methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority information technology projects/initiatives.

  • Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase information technology initiatives.

  • Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.

  • Manages high level assignments and allocation of technical resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams.

  • Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.

  • Works collaboratively with other information technology leaders in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.

  • Conducts research on emerging technologies, services, protocols/processes, and/or standards in support of information technology goals and efforts; responsible for the implementation of new information technology solutions/procedures to address business needs.

  • Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees.

  • Acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees and task forces related to information technology.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 4 years of multi-faceted information technology experience

  • 1 year of management experience

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary



$105,000.00/yr and $115,000.08 per year dependent upon experience and internal equity.
