Job Summary



Come join our Jacobs School of Music Business Office Team as our new Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator! We are looking for a savvy, friendly, organized, and dedicated team member who enjoys working with and serving others in a collegial and supportive environment.


Department-Specific Responsibilities


  • Coordinates, processes, verifies, and maintains HR related work, which may include but not limited to:
    recruitment, training, benefits, employee relations, performance evaluations, classifications, I-9s and employee leaves of absences.

  • Researches and analyzes HR related topics to help assist in resolving issues and/or creating solutions.

  • Creates, compiles, prepares, and analyzes reports and documents for HR related activities.

  • Performs and may coordinate data entry for processing transactions and maintaining and keeping information current for candidates, employees and/or retirees on a variety of HR issues

  • Provides administrative and related support to other HR staff.

  • Supports and maintains HR programs and events; maintains up-to-date records of actions, decisions, and time frames.

  • Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and documents.

General Responsibilities


  • Under supervision, performs routine and occasionally more complex administrative tasks related to payroll, such as computing wages, overtime payments, taxes, and withholdings.

  • Audits timekeeping records and payroll reports to identify errors and ensure compliance with policies and deadlines.

  • Responds to employee inquiries and requests and explains policies and procedures.

  • Helps employees understand paycheck information, including deductions, taxes, garnishments, and payroll calendar.

  • Serves as a resource to lower-level Payroll Coordinators and the department.




Qualifications



Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.


EDUCATION



Required



  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 4 years in relevant field


Preferred



  • 3 years in HR or relevant field

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

IU Bloomington campus


In time, may be open to a partial remote working arrangement.
