Job Description
Primary Function of Position:

Interaction Design is crucial at Intuitive Surgical, involving various technical disciplines. Our process prioritizes user needs in healthcare innovation, ensuring safe, efficient interfaces that please users.

You'll drive design on da Vinci team, defining various platform elements across touchpoints. Collaborate with designers, engineers, and experts to create new digital solutions.

You will help develop products from start to finish. Da Vinci platform offers exciting future opportunities. Join us to shape minimally invasive care.

This is a full-time on-site position in our Sunnyvale, CA Office.

What You'll Do

  • Design world class physical and digital interactions

  • Uphold top standards and methods throughout the product development life cycle

  • Work with various teams to ensure safe, effective, feasible product designs during development process.

  • Document, maintain and share your project plans to ensure proper coordination with cross-functional partners

  • Participate in discovery and research activities to develop and apply a proven understanding of end-users and the problem space

  • Prioritize trade-offs considering user, product, engineering, and business needs. Iterate quickly through designs to refine solutions.

  • Collaborate with other interaction and visual designers to produce beautiful and functional interfaces

  • Think systemically to create holistic design solutions that reinforce and contribute to the interaction design language of the product

  • Propose clear and compelling designs with sound rationale addressing identified problems and opportunities

  • Participate in the validation of product usability through informal and formal testing with representative users in lab and clinical settings

  • Write clear, comprehensive and detailed user interface specifications for others to build and test against

Qualifications
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product design (in-house, agency, or freelance)

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, User Experience, or equivalent

  • Proven record of bringing products to market that contain complex user interactions

  • Craftmanship is part of the job

  • Proficient in the use of current design tools and software applications, with proven prototyping experience

  • Ideally, some experience working in the medical industry and/or healthcare

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Base Salary Range Region 1: $164,000 USD - $236,000 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $139,400 USD - $200,600 USD
Shift: Day
Travel: 10% of the time
Workplace Type: Set Schedule - This job will be onsite weekly, the percentage of onsite work will be defined by the leader.
