We are looking for Industrial Engineering students passionate about improving the manufacturing process and getting hands on experience on a manufacturing floor.


The Badger Meter Internship Program provides hands-on, real-world experience to students through projects that make a difference! In addition to your projects, you will be given the opportunity to participate in our robust Intern program focused on Badger Meter Culture, professional development, community outreach and a final capstone project.


Badger Meter is hiring an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Intern onsite at our Global Headquarters in Milwaukee. The Intern will assist the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team in the exciting tasks of investigating new process technologies and working on industrializing and launching new products. They will be exposed to different manufacturing disciplines including electronics, electro-mechanical assembly, process mapping, Lean Manufacturing, Manufacturing Testing, and Industrial Engineering. They will be working with a diverse group of cross-functional experts and have the ability to shadow and learn from innovative leaders in water meter manufacturing.



Essential Job Duties:



  • Participate in New Product Development team meetings and tasks


  • Conceptualize and design assembly fixtures to maintain on time delivery and high quality


  • Work with 3rd party vendors to design and deliver machines or fixtures on time and on budget


  • Work equally on the manufacturing floor and in office


  • Utilize root cause analysis and lean tools to reduce waste


  • Conduct and create time studies, process maps, and capacity plans to help improve efficiencies


  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to implement solutions to improve yield on production line


  • Additional projects or tasks as assigned





Qualifications:



  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial or related field


  • Intermediate computer/technical skills in Microsoft products, especially Excel and Visio


  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles


  • Natural curiosity for problem solving and ability to quickly learn new technologies


  • Ability to work and communicate with different types of people and functions
