Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the MMP Principal Investigator, the Medical Monitoring
Project (MMP) Data Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to assist in the data
management, data quality assurance and analysis of HIV surveillance, interview and medical record data collected for the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP). MMP is a CDC-funded annual supplemental HIV surveillance project that collects interviews and medical record data on persons living with HIV in San Francisco.


This is a temporary, grant-funded, full-time, benefitted position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health. This is a hybrid position that requires some in person work.


Pay range: $39.82-43.88 per hour

ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS


• Data management within multiple databases, cleaning and quality assurance of the MMP sampling frame, MMP recruitment data, and interview and medical record abstraction data.
• Responsible for securely transferring MMP data to the CDC and will be the point person for CDC regarding data management issues.
• Performs data analysis to monitor study progress and analyze primary outcomes.
• Assist in reviewing literature, writing, and editing manuscripts for publications, abstracts for conferences, and posters and slides for presentations.
• Develop and conduct evaluation and data quality assurance projects in accordance with program guidelines, and provide recommendations to improve program functionality and performance.
• Use SAS software and MS Access to process and update contact information data and case report data, perform data cleaning and quality assurance, data management and data analysis.
• Conduct computerized matches with other databases or registries to evaluate and augment the HIV surveillance system.
• Respond to various data requests and interpret surveillance and epidemiological data.


• Responsible for data and information security, including maintaining appropriate back-up databases and working with I.T. team on server maintenance schedule, adhering to local,
state, and federal information security guidelines.
• Maintains and tracks MMP data collection hardware.
• Creates a bi-annual MMP Report.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


DESIRED KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS


• Strong computer background and analytical skills including strong SAS programming ability,
including troubleshooting programs and performing data analyses independently.
• Knowledge of and experience using SAS, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel.
• Strong data management skills.
• Ability to evaluate and interpret study findings for various audiences. Ability to write project proposals and technical reports, and establish and maintain effective relationship with persons contacted in the course of work.
• Strong verbal and writing communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Knowledge of, sensitivity to and experience working with diverse communities, particularly communities of color and gay/lesbian/bisexual/trans communities and interest in HIV.


Education/Experience
• MPH or higher degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, social sciences,
medicine, or related field.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in one or more of the following areas: data
management, statistical analysis.
