The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a Fullt-time Digital Imaging Specialist II with a hire date of June 2024.


The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September, 2024.



CORE JOB SUMMARY



The Digital Imaging Record Specialist II is responsible for the imaging record maintenance in patient charts, receiving, documenting and processing Digital Imaging requests from patients, medical facilities, insurance companies and legal firms. The incumbent performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties that support consumer services in and out of the department. Independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative are essential in addition to responsibility for designated areas.



CORE JOB FUNCTIONS



1. Utilize UChart-Radiant (RIS) and/or Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACs) to import or export digital images and report data.
2. Fulfill digital imaging record inquires via in person, fax, telephone, subpoenas and legal requests.
3. Retrieve messages from voicemail in a timely manner.
4. Resolve radiology exceptions in PACS.
5. Manage document services with record retention vendor.
6. Support the workflow at the counter to receive and process film jacket/CDs requests for the counter and/or ancillary areas via telephone, fax and/or in person.
7. Order supplies for the department including satellites.
8. Monitor Nuance and outsourced dictation services for correctness/issues.
9. Update on-call radiology schedules (all modalities) using Smart Web System
10. Complies with the hospital, Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, State requirements and works closely with the HIPAA Privacy Office to ensure HIPAA compliance.
11. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures

CORE QUALIFICATIONS




Education:



High School diploma or equivalent required.



Experience:



Three (3) years of HII &/or HIM experience required.


Experience in Epic Radiant (RIS), Philips PACS and/or Vendor neutral archives (VNA) a plus.

Department Specific Functions


1. Maintains accurate and complete clerical systems and records.
2. Maintains working knowledge of hardware and software utilized in the digital imaging process.
3. Ensures high degree of customer satisfaction by consistently adhering to our DIRECCT values.
4. Works closely with physicians and serves as department liaison supporting all clinical areas.
5. Fully understands and utilizes the Picture Archive Communication Systems (PACS) and RIS systems.
6. Oversees the release of digital information and ensures the availability of records to the patients, physicians and clinical staff for all studies and procedures.
7. Serves as a resource for the Digital Imaging Specialist team.
8. Researches and resolves questions, concerns, compliance issues, and problems with respect to the digital imaging process.
9. Assist with the department onboarding and training of digital imaging staff
