Salary/Position Classification


  • $3500.00 annual

Purpose of Position

To provide quality leadership and guidance to high-school aged students that aspire to be in a health sciences career path. Counselors will monitor, mentor and tutor students in assigned classes to assure all students have a successful completion of the INMED Summer Institute program.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for care and well-being of 60 young people grades 7 through 12 on the UND Campus

  • Live in residence halls and eat in dining centers with students. Room and board costs are covered by the program.

  • Will provide transportation for students to and from program, field trips, and extracurricular activities using UND state fleet vehicles.

  • Will plan daily evening activities in cooperation with other counselors and under direction Program Assistant and SI Coordinator.

  • Will tutor/mentor students in assigned class.

  • Monitor all activities of assigned student group and conduct final evaluations.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings.

  • Will be on call twenty-four hours per day for the five-week duration of the program. Two assigned days off will be given at the discretion of the SI Coordinator.

  • Will assist with and be present during study hall hours, course room or lab hours, field trips, residence hall stays, and other duties as needed by Program Assistant and SI Coordinator

  • Will be a positive, enthusiastic role model for all students.

  • Dates of employment will be June 3rd - July 12th, 2024.

  • Mandatory Staff Orientation is June 3rd - June 7th, 2024.


Required Competencies

  • Must be able to tutor in two or more of the program subjects (biology, chemistry, algebra, physics, and communications). Preferably, at least one science or math.

  • Demonstrate maturity and empathy.


Minimum Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.

  • One year experience working with students.

  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to individuals who have worked specifically with American Indian Students.
