Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $44,200 - Midpoint: $55,300 (Salaried E6)



Department/Organization: 810104 - Health Promotions & Wellness



Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; limited nights and weekends.



Job Summary: The Health Promotion Specialist develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates campus wide health education programs that affect health behaviors and support academic success using population-based data. Advances evidence-informed health promotion initiatives in the campus population. Advocates for policies that support campus and community health individually and supporting student groups and campus community advocacy efforts through the appropriate channels. Utilizes data to support programming, evaluation, and planning.



Additional Department Summary: Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates campus-wide health education programs in an assigned topic area. Areas may include alcohol and other drugs, mental health, financial literacy, nutrition/body image, sexual health, or related area. Commits to the advancement of evidence-informed health promotion initiatives in the college population. Participates in the Division of Student Life committees related to health and wellbeing. Collaborates and engages with interdisciplinary partner units within the Division of Student Life's initiatives and across campus to advance the health and wellbeing of students. Supports the initiatives that are designed to advance knowledge and practices related to health and wellbeing. Assists in developing, marketing, coordinating, and implementing prevention-oriented initiatives, including social media, based on evidenced-based behavior change theories and evidenced-informed practices. Participates in strategic planning for the department. Provides support and leadership of signature health promotion events as assigned. Serves as a Co-Advisor to the Department's Project Health Peer Education Programs. Holds staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting. Establishes, enforces, and follows internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.



Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher. Currently holds or is eligible to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) credential.



Skills and Knowledge: Written and verbal communication skills. Effective and collaborative skills in team building, leading and evaluation. Values competence and practices consistent with higher education. Experience with social media venues. Strong and effective skills working with and leading teams, peer, and interdisciplinary staff teams.


Demonstrated commitment to expanding multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through demonstrating self-awareness; understanding and valuing others; demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.



Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in Health Education, Public Health, Health Promotion, or Health Science. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
