Job Summary


Coordinates activities and functions of the Nursing Assistant Program; serves all students as a TRUE Learning Community by promoting student success through student learning, student development, and student retention.

Responsibilities




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Coordinates activities and functions of the Nursing Assistant Program to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications; maintains records and prepares reports with the assistance from the Director of Nursing, as needed; and participates in the strategic planning process within program guidelines for the Nursing Assistant Program.

  • Prepares class schedules including determining classes that are needed, time offered, number of sections, and the proper instructor; develops course outlines, syllabus, and course materials that promote learning and fulfill the program objectives; maintains students' records; assists faculty with course processes and concerns; completes and returns required reports to the appropriate office by due date after review by the Director of Nursing; shares responsibility for maintaining the facilities and equipment in area used; and oversees the program with assistance from the Director of Nursing as needed.

  • Recruits adjunct faculty; orients adjunct faculty to the program and the site at which the adjunct faculty member will be teaching; participates in faculty development activities to update knowledge of the subject area and to remain current in the use of alternative teaching techniques and appropriate instructional technology; completes performance reviews on time and communicates results with Director of Nursing; and may substitute to teach any part of a Nursing Assistant class due to adjunct unavailability.

  • Participates in the development and management of the current budget within established guidelines; participates in planning for next budget period through analysis of costs and past expenditure figures and estimating future costs; and works with the Director of Nursing to accomplish preparation of the budget each budget cycle.

  • Maintains up-to-date information of all state and federal guidelines, rules, and regulations pertaining to the Nursing Assistant Program and recommends changes as necessary to ensure that the College is in compliance.

  • Ensures curriculum and courses, faculty qualifications, and administrative support of the program are in compliance with accreditation guidelines; compiles information and coordinates the preparation of reports required for continuing accreditation for the program; ensures that all courses are approved in ACRES; and performs curriculum development and revision for current and future classes.

  • Provides feedback to students regarding personal achievement and academic matters; meets with students as needed to ensure student success; assists in the advising of students for enrollment in the Nursing Assistant Program; confirms enrollment of the students in the appropriate classes; and places book orders in the Bookstore.

  • Participates in committee assignments and in the recruitment and retention of students.

  • Performs other duties commensurate with functions and level of position or as assigned.
  • Qualifications



    EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree leading to an active RN license in good standing (minimum).



    EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of related experience; teaching experience desired.



    SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS: One (1) year of long-term care experience as an RN; must be able to travel using own transportation; and portions of the job are performed in a classroom and in a clinical site off campus.




    Background Verification: As a condition of employment, all candidates accepting an offer of employment for a full-time, part- time, temporary, student worker, or volunteer position, will be required to undergo a Background Verification. Employment with Central Arizona College is contingent upon the successful completion of the background verification.   • Knowledge of the application of the Arizona Board of Nursing (AZBN) requirements for a Nursing Assistant Program.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices in administration of a nursing assistant educational program in an institution of higher education including state, federal, and accrediting associations/institutions.

  • Knowledge of instructional program development, planning, evaluation, and review.

  • Skill in interacting with staff, community leaders, faculty, students, and the public.

  • Skill in communicating.

  • Skill in working with a diverse multi-ethnic, multi-cultural population.

  • Skill in operating a variety of multimedia equipment, computer systems, hardware, and relevant software applications.

  • Skill in dealing with a variety of highly confidential information, records, and sensitive situations in an effective manner as required by the Department, College, and the Arizona Board of Nursing guidelines.

  • Skill in counseling students on College policies and procedures as well as excellent customer service.

  • Ability to produce new, imaginative, or innovative solutions different from traditional approaches.
