Overview:

Quinnipiac University seeks a dynamic Director of Annual Giving to spearhead the creation, implementation, and assessment of a holistic annual giving initiative for alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends. Aligned with our strategic plan, "The University of The Future," and fundraising priorities, this individual will drive efforts to enhance alumni engagement, elevate leadership annual giving, cultivate President's Club level donors, and bolster donor retention. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, collaborative with a penchant for data-driven decision-making and a keen focus on achieving goals.


Reporting to the AVP for Development and Alumni Affairs, the Director of Annual Giving will oversee professional staff and student employees and will work closely with the Alumni Affairs team to ensure alignment with all alumni engagement programs, activities and strategies. The candidate will serve as a partner to coordinate the integration of unit-based appeals and be responsible for the execution of solicitations at the annual giving level.

  • Design, implement and evaluate multi-channel, data-informed strategies to solicit, acquire, cultivate, and steward individual donors of all constituencies using various techniques, segments, and channels.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual operational plan, employing a multi-channel strategy including direct mail, email, phone, social media, digital platforms, crowdfunding campaigns, peer to peer fundraising, reunion giving and the engagement center. Work with vendors to execute projects and initiatives.

  • Create annual themes to convey key messages and compelling stories to acquire, inform, retain, and upgrade donors. Collaborate closely with Marketing and Communications and Donor Relations colleagues to align messaging and strategy, and deliver a cohesive donor experience.

  • Seamlessly align annual appeals and solicitations with university and division-wide initiatives to enhance annual donor and fundraising goals

  • Facilitate solicitations to increase the pipeline of leadership annual giving donors

  • Lead and drive the planning of all annual giving day initiatives (Bobcat Challenge, Bobcat Family Challenge and Bobcats Unite)

  • In consultation with the Director of Donor Relations, plan and manage annual giving stewardship initiatives to increase retention and improve the donor experience.

  • Oversee data management, results tracking, and analysis of all annual giving efforts. Leverage strong data analysis to drive future strategies and pivot messaging, segmentation, and channels when necessary. Partner with Advancement Services on data integrity, mining, segmentation, and development of analysis tools and tracking

  • Hold an annual giving portfolio of 50 prospects to support the Quinnipiac Fund

  • Create, manage, and run micro-philanthropy and reunion campaigns at the annual giving level.

  • Serve as an internal and external partner on all initiatives related to annual giving ensuring that solicitations and messages are cohesive and in line with division and university priorities and goals.

  • In partnership with Alumni Affairs, collaborate directly with alumni and donors to foster and enhance engagement, including involvement in reunion giving, crowdfunding and peer to peer fundraising

  • Steward the annual giving budget

  • Other duties as assigned or needed
  • Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree required

    • Master's degree preferred

    Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on annual giving. Higher education preferred

  • Proven track record of successfully meeting fundraising goals and increasing revenue

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and volunteers

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, coupled with a strategic mindset and strong analytical abilities

  • Ability to manipulate and segment large, complex constituent data, and to recognize and interpret trends in data

  • Exceptional organizational skills and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Able to build productive, beneficial relationships with a broad range of colleagues and constituencies

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
