The Opportunity…

This is an opportunity to join Segal’s Financial Services unit as a Payroll Coordinator.  As a Payroll Coordinator, you will provide essential support to our Payroll department in their day-to-day operations. You will undertake a variety of tasks such as updating employee records, documenting departmental policies and procedures, and entering payroll information.  You will gain valuable insights into procedures such as employee onboarding, training, and payroll processing. 

This position reports to the Payroll Manager and is based in the New York office, offering a flexible hybrid work schedule.

Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to…


  • Enter Payroll data quickly and efficiently.

  • Collect and process employee personal/billing information in the Payroll system.

  • Process payroll forms including direct deposit and W4.

  • Respond to employee requests regarding paychecks, documents/forms.

  • Pull scheduled reports and distribute to HR stakeholders.

  • Payroll mail distribution.

  • Create/edit payroll process documentation.

  • Assist with Payroll vendor inquiries (ADP).

  • Assist with Payroll processing.

  • Collecting and verifying time sheets.

  • Preparing periodic payroll and other relevant ad-hoc reports.


  • High school diploma/GED and/or degree in Accounting or related quantitative discipline preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience working in a professional services and/or progressive corporate environment.

  • Experience working in a payroll department performing a variety of administrative tasks that includes generating reports, analyzing and quality assuring payroll data, and interacting with employees and others to answer questions or resolve basic payroll issues.  

  • Proficiency in relevant financial software and payroll software, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI and ADP Vantage; Proficiency in MS Office, with intermediate proficiency in MS-Excel.

  • Ability to multi-task, detail oriented, quantitative/math skills, communication (verbal/written) skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
