What we need:



Will assist in achieving Engineering objectives by designing, testing, and supporting the Electrical aspects of electro-mechanical systems. Provides ongoing process and support for production operations.

What you'll do:




  • Works with process and quality engineers to determine ways to reduce labor through the use of robotics, actuators, and pick and place units according to established policies, procedures, and customer requirements; document specifications and material requirements on all designs; performs duties involved with the ongoing product support and with the production launch of test equipment due to capacity increases.
  • Ensures quality of electrical designs and purchased components/systems by developing and documenting test plans; conduct, analyze, and document tests and results; make modifications; calculate accurate costs and paybacks. Conferring with suppliers on design details, costs, and schedules of purchased products, evaluating supplier parts/systems.
  • Supports Engineering by researching, designing, developing, and testing cost effective electrical and mechanical systems, components, attachments, etc. Document specifications and material requirements on all designs.
  • Source practical automation in efforts to cut costs and improve efficiency.
  • Provide maintenance support; troubleshoot malfunctions and other problems in order to adhere to established schedules and priorities; follow up and support electrical and mechanical designs in Manufacturing; assists in the development of manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components; schedules initial pilot runs to verify the manufacturability of the product.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner; request assistance from more experienced engineers as required.
  • Perform other job duties as required of job.



What you have:




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • 0-5 years of related job experience
  • Equipment controls and PLC programming (knowledge of controls environments should include Siemens S7 and/or TIA Portal)
  • Experience in Simotion and other advanced motion control platforms
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control concepts
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved.
  • Experience in an automated manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience applying principles of mechanics, pneumatics, thermodynamics, heat transfer and materials.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office package
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external business contacts.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts in easily understood manner.
  • Good organizational skills to independently prioritize daily activities to meet department objectives.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; be able to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
  • Performs with limited latitude for independent action and judgment within the framework of the job.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and creative ability; self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision.
  • Ability to interpret schematic drawings.



What you're good at:




  • Technology and automation minded, with a basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, basic electricity, gearboxes, and tools.
  • Excellent computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Strong math skills, including the knowledge of arithmetic, basic algebra, geometry, and statistics, and their applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under stress when equipment is down
  • Possess exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair for manufacturing equipment. Requirements include LOTO, hands-on diagnostic ability (setpoint determination/adjustment), appropriate use of hand tools.



What else?




  • Experience with Siemens products would be a plus. Master, Micro master drives and Step 7 environments.
