The Elevator Manager's primary focus is to manage and coordinate all activities and staff for the day-to-day elevator and grains cleaning operations for the plant. We are seeking someone that will implement practices that maximize efforts to improve the overall effectiveness and financial performance of the elevator function.
This job would be ideal for someone who wants to find a long-term operations/management career with an established local company.
The mill and production lines may run 24-hours a day, and employees in these positions will need to be available for operations support 24/7.
ELEVATOR MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage elevator operations, including grain quality, employee and asset safety, operation efficiencies, plant security, continuous improvement, and drive initiatives and innovation that generate new opportunities within the department.
Be a leader for our Production Team and support cross functionally throughout the company.
Mandate adherence to all safety guidelines and work to provide a safe work environment for all employees.
Champion continuous improvement across all operational disciplines.
Manage daily and long-term elevator activities to meet or exceed budgeted quality, and operating cost targets by managing team, equipment efficiency, and productivity.
Manage employees operating all machinery and systems for all shifts, ensuring sound practice in all activities.
Manage the physical facilities, bins, and all associated maintenance in accordance with best practices, statutory regulations, and all company policies and procedures.
Coordinate all elevator operations over all shifts.
Determine appropriate actions with respect to changing situations resulting from manpower or material changes and formulates appropriate action plans.
Develop and mentor professional growth and advancement of department staff.
Create an empowered culture to ensure that the department and its people understand the goals and objectives of the business and that they have the resources and leadership support to accomplish them. Provide an environment which ensures and provides for open and healthy communications.
Coordinate the work of the elevator department to insure prompt reaction to such things as changing production schedule, material performance, production delays, mechanical problems, customer needs, and quality issues.
Team with Engineering and Technical Milling groups to develop improved processes and/or materials.
ELEVATOR MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years relevant job experience (or equivalent experience).
5+ years' experience of elevator department supervision and plant operations.
Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated Continuous Improvement processes.
Demonstrated scheduling and process optimization for grain receiving.
Strong leadership behaviors.
Demonstrated safety and food safety champion behaviors.
Demonstrated problem solving/decision making skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and lead others to work as a team.
Strong attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Extreme climate or climate variation.
Heat up to 100 degrees and lows of 40 degrees.
Changes of >30 degrees within a shift.
Rotating and oscillating equipment.
Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially forklifts.
Standing and walking on concrete floor.
Climbing of ladders.
