Overview

  • Provides instruction related to research data management, data sharing, and rigor and reproducibility, including co-directing a graduate-level course on practices that impact scientific rigor and reproducibility.
  • Develops and delivers educational opportunities and outreach that increases awareness of and engagement with research data best practices and innovations.
  • Answers reference questions and provides expert advice to research investigators, staff, and learners related to rigor and reproducibility, open science, ethical data practices, and compliance with funders’ policies.
  • Provides support and professional development opportunities that grow Library staff’s knowledge about research data management and data sharing.
  • Builds and sustains relationships with research communities at OHSU to inform and grow Library services.
  • Contributes to the creation, outreach, and sustainability of tools and resources that support research data management and data sharing.
  • Represents the Library on cross-institutional committees and initiatives and ensures multi-directional knowledge sharing.
  • Fosters an inclusive and diverse atmosphere, including in pedagogical approaches, reference consultations, and teamwork.
  • Contributes to the Publishing and Data Services team by creating, evaluating, and advancing new ideas and initiatives.
  • As a faculty member, creates and contributes to scholarship and research; engages in service to institutional, regional, national, and international professional organizations and initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Relevant graduate degree, such as a Ph.D. in a biomedical or clinical research area, master's degree in library/information science (MLS), or other related areas of study.

  • Substantial knowledge of quantitative or mixed-methods research methodologies in a health sciences or biomedical domain.

  • Knowledge of experimental methods, data management and sharing, and reporting practices that contribute to rigor and reproducibility.

  • Solid and applied grasp of statistical methods and data analysis techniques.

  • Proficient in using at least one programming language for data analysis. Can clean, manipulate, and visualize data independently.

  • Familiarity with common administrative research workflows, such as Institutional Review Board (IRB) review, Data Management Plans (DMPs), or Data Use Agreements (DUAs).

  • Pedagogical training or experience delivering instruction to adult learners.

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences.

  • Experience cultivating and growing connections with communities, such as researchers and adult learners,

  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively across diverse disciplines and levels of expertise.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities.



Qualifications

  • Experience working in a biomedical or clinical research lab setting.
  • Specialized knowledge of experimental methods, data management and sharing, and reporting practices that contribute to rigor and reproducibility in a specific research area, such as structural biology, behavioral neuroscience, or computational biology.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and grow strategic relationships within biomedical and health science research communities.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies used in research, such as generative artificial intelligence (GAI).
  • Knowledge of issues, practices, and technology that can support antiracist, anticolonial, and/or inclusive practices and outcomes in research, and teaching and learning, such as the CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance and inclusive citation practices.
  • Knowledge of data de-identification practices.
  • Experience in grant writing.
