Job Description:




Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)




Salary: $53,151




Binghamton University is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Transfer Admissions Specialist. The Undergraduate Admissions Office seeks a self-motivated, dynamic individual with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to represent the university to prospective transfer students, their families and colleagues in understanding the transfer admissions process and credit evaluation. The position will play a critical role in ensuring students experience a smooth transition during the transfer enrollment process at Binghamton University. This position involves supporting Enrollment Management through identifying, selecting, and enrolling transfer students. The position will also require travel to community colleges for admissions events.




Responsibilities include:





  • Development of a working knowledge of Binghamton University, its programs, policies, goals and history

  • Proficiency in the use of technology; experience working with a student information system such as Banner and/or an admissions CRM such as Slate

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships and rapport with counselors and advisors at community colleges, students, parents, alumni and professional organizations

  • Review applications through a holistic reading process and make recommendations, act as an active member of application reading committees

  • Represent and travel for the campus to meet with prospective transfer students off campus, at community colleges, and at off-campus meetings

  • Prepare reports and innovative proposals to help understand transfers and further the goals for transfer enrollment

  • Develop a basic understanding of curricula information (including program of study and general education requirements) for transfer pathways, including an understanding of course-to course equivalencies

  • Offer in-person and virtual workshops and seminars for Broome to Binghamton Program Prospective Students

  • Recruit at high schools for the Broome to Binghamton program

  • Outreach to promote the Broome to Binghamton Program

  • Work closely with Advising to help facilitate meetings and planning ahead with Broome to Binghamton Students

  • Coordinate targeted area receptions and information sessions for recruitment and yield purposes with prospective students, applicants, parents, counselors and alumni in order to build awareness and increase enrollments from the specified area; these may involve working with representatives from other colleges or universities






Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher)

  • 3-5 years of progressive professional work experience

  • Must possess a valid/clean driver's license to operate a vehicle in NYS and be comfortable driving in various settings

  • Evidence of excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated public speaking ability, analytical thinking, and creative problem solving

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Ability to walk, stand for long periods, lift and carry boxes that weigh 25 lbs. or more with or without accommodation

  • Ability to be flexible and work with interruptions such as phone calls and meeting with students

  • Ability to maintain a flexible working schedule including frequent nights and weekends

  • Ability to travel extensively

  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations




Preferred:





  • Master's degree (or higher) in a related field

  • 2 or more years of full-time experience working in higher education in an academic advising, undergraduate admissions, transfer services, registrar's office or administrative role in an academic department

  • Experience working with a Student Information System (e.g. Banner) or CRM (e.g. Slate)
