Nature & Purpose of Position:

The ASC invites applicants to fill the role of a STEM graduate assistant. The selected applicant will primarily serve under the supervision of the Assistant Director for STEM academic support initiatives. Approximately 50% of the graduate assistant's time will be dedicated to research initiatives of the ASC with specific attention to data analysis.

Other Requirements for the Position:

Responsibilities:

1. Contribute to ongoing STEM Tutoring Program initiatives, including the development of resources, short video tutorials, and instructional documents.


2. Attend and complete program training, as well as specialized ongoing tutor and content training throughout the tenure of the position such as the College Reading and Learning Association.


3. Assist in the development and implementation of research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Qualifications:

1. Demonstrated experience with data analysis tools such as SPSS, SAS, and STATA, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite of programs.


2. Superb analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.


3. Basic knowledge of grant writing and proposal development will be beneficial.

Education and/or Experience:

1. Must be a current Sam Houston State University student enrolled in a Master or Doctoral program at Sam Houston State University.


2. Demonstrated proficiency in graduate-level statistics, college-level statistics content and courses, and statistics-specific study skills and learning strategies.


3. Experience teaching or learning in online learning management systems preferred.


4. Ability to adapt to all levels of learners and approach students with different learning strategies to help them develop their statistics skills.
