Advertised Job Summary:

The Post-doctoral Fellowship provides direct service to students and participates in wellness, health promotion and outreach programming for the university with a specific focus on supporting diverse, historically marginalized, and underrepresented populations. This role supports the Student Health services and Counseling and Psychiatry's mission of enhancing the health and well-being of the student community and providing high quality, multidisciplinary mental health-related services. Post-doctoral residents receive training and supervision to enhance skills and insure competent service delivery.


Required Education and Experience:

PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program, which included a completed Doctoral Internship conferred by start date. Completion of a predoctoral internship program with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience providing assessment and treatment of college students, as well as campus-based consultation and outreach. Demonstrated commitment to and experience providing mental health services to individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds with a range of presenting concerns/diagnoses.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Strong commitment to student accessibility and opportunity and navigating layers of identity experienced by all students including race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, religion, class, and nationality.

  • Training in identity development, culturally competent service provision, and culturally competent supervision and training.

  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in developing outreach and services for students of color and other diverse communities

  • Additionally, a minimum of one year of clinical experience working in a college counseling center (this may include practica, internship or post-doctoral experience) is desired.

  • Knowledge to identify and articulate a treatment plan that will lead to problem resolution, stress reduction or alleviation of the diagnosed disorder.

  • Knowledge of group counseling theory and ability to teach and consult about group process.

  • Knowledge of appropriate ethical and legal standards and regulations.

  • Knowledge of the evidenced based practice of psychology.


Job Duty:

Provides direct clinical services to graduate and undergraduate students presenting with a broad range of clinical and developmental concerns. Provides crisis intervention and management. Provides brief counseling and psychotherapy with undergraduate and graduate students (individuals and couples) with a broad range of psychological problems, with students who have less accessibility to service.
