Overview

As a Maintenance Technician at Velociti Services your chief responsibility is to preserve the excellent condition and functionality of our client’s business premises. Your duties will include conducting quality assessments, scheduling repairs, maintaining inventory, and developing preventative maintenance procedures.

An ideal candidate will be a jack-of-all-trades, with in-depth knowledge of maintenance procedures, hydraulic systems, and basic tools and appliances. To excel in this position, you must be an outstanding problem-solver with exceptional communication and organizational skills.



Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance works to avoid possible failures and malfunctions.
  • Assist in developing, completing, and reviewing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Complete daily work assignments and wok orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Analyze repairs requests, equipment failures, and troubleshoot them to assure efficient use of self-performance vs. Contractors.
  • Perform installations, assembling, fittings, repairs, and replacements as needed.
  • Handle emergency maintenance and repair work. Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical.
  • Be available on call 24/7 for after-hours emergencies.
  • Perform filter changes, grease fittings, change belts on mechanical equipment as per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Schedule and maintain preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment.
  • Manage stock of adequate maintenance, janitorial materials, and equipment, and supplies to avoid shortages and excesses.
  • Maintain complete records of daily maintenance activities.
  • Maintain work areas, mechanical rooms, and loading docks in a clean, safe and organized manner.
  • Operate maintenance equipment safely to avoid accidents.
  • Maintain the maintenance tools and equipment in safe, clean and good working conditions.
  • Provide assistance to client and tenants as needed.
  • Attend job training and safety programs organized by maintenance department and Velociti Services.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
  • Perform maintenance tasks based on pictures, blueprints, written descriptions and oral instructions from Supervisors.
  • Schedule and manage calls to outside contractors.
  • Schedule and manage building projects with site manager and client as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested


Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field is preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
  • Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings
  • Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs, or other drainage problems
  • Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity
  • Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building
  • Groundskeeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or residents of the building in a pleasant manner
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
  • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building
  • Effective problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be well- organized and can prioritize tasks
  • Good analytical / critical thinking
  • The ability to work well both as part of a team and on your own
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • The ability to make critical decisions under pressure

Physical Requirements

Applicants for this role must be able to:

  • Lift, bend, squat, and stretch to move boxes, parcels, and shipments
  • Climb small to medium flights of stairs multiple times a day
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Approximately equal amount of time sitting and walking
  • Requires ability to bend, reach and stand for extended periods
  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone and walkie-talkie
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Able to climb a ladder and work on a raised platform
