POSITION SUMMARY:

Targa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager of Data Analytics with a strong background in Business Intelligence (BI), Data Science, and understanding of the oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate will lead our data analytics team in leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making, optimize business processes, and enhance overall organizational performance, with a specific focus on operational data within the oil and gas sector.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Leadership: Lead the execution of the data analytics strategy tailored to the specific needs and challenges of the oil and gas industry. Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business value in Gathering, Processing, Transportation, Fractionating, and Logistics operations.

  • Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of data analysts and data scientists, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team. Set clear goals and objectives, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to team members.

  • Business Intelligence: Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of BI solutions and dashboards customized for the oil and gas sector. Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and accessibility for business users across various functions including operations, commercial, supply chain, and finance.

  • Data Science: Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze operational data, including production data, plant performance data, and equipment maintenance data. Generate predictive models and insights to optimize operational efficiency, minimize downtime, and reduce costs.

  • Data Engineering and Operational Data Management: Collaborate with data engineers to design and implement data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and storing operational data from disparate sources such as ERP systems, Corporate systems, SCADA systems, and IoT devices. Ensure the availability, reliability, and quality of operational data for analytics purposes.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the organization. Understand business requirements, identify data needs, and develop data-driven solutions to address key challenges in the company.

  • Technology Evaluation and Implementation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data analytics, BI, and data science relevant to the oil and gas sector. Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, and methodologies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of data analytics processes.

  • Performance Measurement and Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team’s performance. Prepare and present regular reports and presentations to senior management to communicate insights, findings, and recommendations.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in a leadership role in data analytics, business intelligence, and data science within the oil and gas industry.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages commonly used in data analysis and statistical modeling.

  • Extensive experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker, including dashboard design and development.

  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques applied to operational data in the oil and gas sector.

  • Familiarity with data engineering practices, including data pipeline design, ETL processes, and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure).

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry operations, including exploration, production, refining, and distribution processes, as well as regulatory requirements and safety standards.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.
