Loan Specialist - Killeen, TX at Veterans United Home Loans in Killeen, Texas

Job Description:

As a Loan Specialist, you will help veterans and active-duty service members in the VA home loan process. You will work with one or more Loan Officers and will do most of the typical Loan Officer functions, freeing-up the Loan Officer(s) you support to bring in new business.


Job duties include:

• Educating borrowers on the loan process and product options
  
  


• Taking loan applications by phone, in-person, or online
  
  


• Processing loan applications for VA, FHA, USDA, and Conventional loans
  
  


• Following up on leads who have not applied or have stalled in the process
  
  


• Issuing pre-approval letters on behalf of the Loan Officer(s) you are supporting
  
  


• Collecting documents from borrowers to prepare for loan processing (you are NOT processing loans. We have a dedicated Loan Processor who does that very well)
  
  


• Assist customers with payment and cash-to-close estimates
  
  


• Assist the Loan Officer with loan status updates to all parties throughout the loan process
  
  


• Assist the Loan Officer with other tasks as needed
  
  

The Loan Specialist position is ideal for someone who enjoys the mortgage business and working with our military community, but who does not want to spend their time promoting themselves or generating new business. You will be part of our local, top-producing loan team who will give you the training and support you need to succeed.


Compensation will be a combination of a base hourly wage and bonuses paid on every file funded by the Loan Officer or Loan Officers that you support. You will also be compensated for self-sourced leads that fund with the branch from your referral. This is in addition to a solid benefits package for health insurance, matching 401(k), etc.


Minimum requirements include:

• At least 3 years of recent mortgage loan experience
  
  


• A current NMLS license or ability to get one prior to being hired
  
  


• In-depth knowledge of the VA home loan program
  
  


• Working knowledge of non-VA home loan programs
  
  


• A history of exceptional customer service and reviews
  
  


• Ability to work in our Killeen, Texas office 9am to 5pm, M-F
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Encompass Origination Software
  
  


• Military experience or military affiliation is valued
