We are currently building world-class institutes for the treatment of diabetes and cancer. We are looking for a Billing Compliance Specialist to join our team! 

Duties:


  • Performs audits for medical documentation, coding and billing to ensure compliance with Federal, State and other payer requirements.

  • Contributes expertise to the development of compliance training to physicians and staff.

  • Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics, and integrity.

  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements and external laws as they relate to coding and medical billing.

  • Performs analysis of medical records for accuracy of ICD-9 and CPT coding to ensure standards and regulatory compliance for services billed.

  • Performs focused audits on identified risk areas.

  • Develops reports to communicate audit findings and feedback to physicians and ancillary staff.

  • Performs research via electronic and other media to assure understanding of documentation and coding is current and relevant.

  • Coordinates educational activities for physicians, ancillary staff, and billing personnel on regulatory issues.

  • Presents in-house seminars on regulatory and coding updates to physicians, ancillary staff and department billing staff.

Required Education:  Associate's Degree in Health Information Management (HIM)



  • 48 months experience in coding and billing in a medical setting that includes at least 36 months experience in compliance auditing for coding and billing


Equivalent/Substitution: Will accept 24 months experience in abstract coding of professional services in lieu of the Associate's Degree for a total of 72 months experience


 


Skills:




  • Knowledge of documentation and coding of diagnosis and procedures using ICD-9 and CPT methodology

  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory requirements for billing professional services in an academic setting

  • Knowledge of computer spreadsheets, graphs and word documentation

  • Skilled in web-based research for federal, state and other regulatory body requirements

  • Excellent skills in communication and presentations

Certifications:




  • Coding certification by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

  • Coding certifications are at least one of the following: Registered Health Information Administrators (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist Physician based (CCS-P), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), OR Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
