Overview

This is a leadership role for JBT and an exciting career opportunity to expand global sourcing strategies in Electrical category grouping which includes electromechanical and electronics categories to help JBT grow successfully through organic positioning and strategic acquisitions and mergers. This sourcing leadership role has global scope in products, manufacturing, and supply chain with category, sourcing, and procurement teams located globally. Overall supply chain strategy is driven at the center as one JBT where the alignment and execution is at the business unit level to support flexibility and an entrepreneurial spirit. This strategic role is responsible for $200M+ of Electrical direct materials spend that are either outsourced or produced internally.

The successful candidate will be tasked with leading supply chain operational initiatives and strategies for Electrical spend categories impacting over thirty (30) manufacturing facilities. This spend continues to grow strategically in scope through various efforts in make/buy, acquisitions, organic global/regional expansion, etc. This is an exciting opportunity for a successful and experienced sourcing leader in a highly visible leadership position with a career path of continued strategic contributions and advancement. The role will have an office at JBT Chicago headquarters or at business location or a remote office as required.

Responsibilities

This position will report to the VP, Global Sourcing - Directs and is a leadership role for the JBT center led supply chain. He/she will lead multiple supply chain initiatives and cross-functional teams including JBT wide sourcing waves, make buy strategies, process improvements, and category and supplier development plans. This supply chain leadership role is accountable for organizing, directing, and influencing sourcing, procurement, engineering, and operations to drive the transformation to supply chain excellence. This position is responsible for a direct team of category and sourcing managers / professionals located in the US, EU, and Asia along with influencing procurement and cross functional teams on global supply chain strategy and implementation at various manufacturing facilities across JBT.

Specific Responsibilities

• Developing supply chain strategies and aggressive total cost improvement programs for the major 80/20 Electrical category grouping spend aligned with JBT business, divisions, and corporate priorities to optimize QDCR – Quality Delivery Cost Relationship.
• Leading JBT wide Make Buy sourcing initiative for electrical control panels including core competence assessments, productivity plans at JBT manufacturing sites, and right sizing the supply base.
• Deploy best practice to organize components and products into families and kits based on type, process, materials, etc. enabling sourcing, procurement, and operational efficiency.
• Support part normalization and VA/VE efforts by category and products to leverage product supply and specifications to reduce total costs.
• Implement Supplier Quality, Assessment and Performance programs across JBT Electrical category grouping to evaluate and qualify suppliers for businesses, technical categories, and product lines to develop capable suppliers, strengthen supplier selection, performance, and reduce risk in the supply chain.
• Develop and execute full annual productivity plans and three-year strategic plans for the Electrical supply chain inclusive of Make Buy, Category /Supplier development, product standardization and capital investment plans as required.
• Develop alternative suppliers for sole or single source relationships and ensure new technology conversion minimizing end of life (EOL) product supply challenges.
• Drive a supplier concentration strategy to right size the supply base, reduce distributors and develop more direct manufacturing relationships in key subcategories enabling supply continuity and competitive tension.
• Managing multiple teams through developing, training, and coaching talent to optimize performance, professional and personnel growth enabling high-performance team output.
• Support an independent aftermarket part supply program with divisional supply chain and commercial leaders ensuring dedicated supplier capacity, inventory programs and quick turn lead times.
• Building/nurturing internal cross functional business and external strategic supplier relationships on a local, regional, and global level.
• Incorporating/refining various supply chain and sourcing tool sets including structured sourcing processes, category management, supplier management, material optimization, risk management, and supply base development.
• Support deployment and training on continuous improvement (RCI) toolset to drive total cost savings including working capital programs and supplier performance improvement for Electrical category grouping and higher level BOM products.
• Leading/developing high impact supplier relationships in alignment with leadership across multiple industries and businesses inclusive of negotiating and establishing strategic supplier agreements.
• Driving team communication and facilitating rigorous project management within all levels of the JBT supply chain teams
• Ensuring financial controls are maintained and followed through with any required in-depth analysis. This includes full budgetary responsibility and accountability for all areas managed.

Education

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain from an accredited university
• An advanced degree (MBA) or commensurate experience is a plus.
• Lean Certification or Minimum of Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
• A.P.I.C.S. and/or N.A.P.M. certifications are highly desirable.

Travel:
