Job Description:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform technological tasks related to seed preparation in accordance with instructions from the Team engineer and SOP. These tasks include, but not limited to: characterize seed quality, lap and polish seed, etch seed, bond seed, anneal seed.
• Participate in continuous improvement of seed preparation process
• Support the development and evolution of operating procedures.
• Keep technological areas clean. Actively participates in housekeeping initiatives.
• Follows all health, safety, environmental and ergonomic requirements, regulations and procedures

• 2 - 4 years of course work completed from an accredited university in an Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics-based field.
• Exposure to a technological process, equipment maintenance, measurements and data collection are plusses.
• Computer literate. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Email and Internet.
• Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)

• Must be well organized and able to perform several tasks in parallel.
• Statistics and data analysis ability will be needed.
• Must be computer-literate to operate computer-controlled equipment and make data entry.
• Ability to learn to use unfamiliar equipment quickly and accurately.
• Inquisitive mind.
• Forward thinker.
• Team-oriented.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Good communication, both verbal and nonverbal.

Must be able to lift 50 lb parts

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and II-VI Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.

Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
