Position Title: Manager

Quality FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Plant Manager

Grade: SAL EX 16 Job Summary and Primary Functions

The Manager

Quality Assurance (QA) is responsible to oversee all QA processes and QA personnel for the Tempel Chicago campus which includes QC lab

as well as incoming and outgoing quality. This position is responsible to manage the internal quality system

ensure processes and procedures affecting quality are effective

and for developing a Quality Lean culture at Tempel Chicago. He/She will ensure corrective action when quality system process deficiencies are detected and will ensure the Chicago Quality System is consistent with Tempel's Global Quality System for meeting quality requirements and measuring the effectiveness of the Tempel Quality System.


  • Develop and complete corrective action plans to address critical areas for improvement
  • Monitor the effective management of corrective actions and processes; making certain the proper priority

  • Develop and manage supplier control process and audits
  • Maintain and communicate quality related metrics to appropriate stakeholders
  • Ensure appropriate training

    and adoption of quality processes that are consistent with QA processes globally


  • Continually look for ways to improve methods and documentation for all business processes related to Quality
  • Assist with strategic quality planning for Tempel Chicago
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders (suppliers

    etc.) to develop effective and efficient root cause solutions to quality problems


  • Apply Lean management principles to all aspects of the Quality Manager job
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Lead internal and external quality audits and ensure all major and minor non-conformances are addressed in a timely manner
  • Work closely with Operations

    Engineering and the Customers to ensure good quality process

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality

    Industrial Engineering


    or a closely related field


  • 5+ years' work experience in the Quality Assurance field
  • 3+ years of leadership responsibilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Word

    Excel


    PowerPoint


    and Mini Tab


  • Experience with an ERP system; ability to easily extract data (Oracle preferred)
  • Recognized level of expertise in IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 Quality System
  • Knowledgeable in Six Sigma Lean Management tools and philosophy
  • Six Sigma DMAIC or DMADV Green Belt certification (Black Belt certification strongly preferred)


Work Environment and Physical Demands

General office environment with frequent exposure to the factory environment. Less than 10% travel may be required.

Work environment can be high pressured and requires tact

persuasion
