Purpose & Scope
This position maintains an intermediate-range balanced plan and creates a short-range, sequenced shop floor lineup for the thermal treat assets at Gambrinus by utilizing planning software and problem-solving techniques. The position balances customer demand across the thermal treat assets in a way that maximizes customer service levels, alleviates constraints, and minimizes manufacturing processing costs. In doing so, this position directly impacts key business metrics including ATS, SOTIF, Lineup Adherence, On-Time Launch, Inventory Days, Past Due, and Working Capital.

This position must work closely with the Manufacturing team to understand equipment utilization and capabilities of the thermal treat furnaces and other related manufacturing equipment, while developing a collaborative relationship with counterparts in Manufacturing, Met QA, and the Commercial team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a balanced 4-6 week plan within the Production Planning tool for all thermal treat assets. Manage levels of planned material availability and identify constraints in advance. Resolve bottleneck situations by implementing alternate work center solutions, making recommendations for outsourcing, and considering the appropriate prioritization of orders.
  • Create daily/weekly sequenced dispatch lists for each thermal treat asset that satisfy operations' throughput targets, while also allowing for inventory and customer service targets to be met, such Inventory Days, Working Capital, ATS, SOTIF, and minimal past due and re-promises.
  • Utilize planning software, analytical/statistical tool kits, problem solving techniques, and an understanding of the manufacturing process and recipe assignment to create accurate and executable plans.
  • P artner with the Manufacturing Team to develop the weekly schedule for the thermal treat assets and hourly workforce and ensure plan execution to meet or exceed designated KPI metrics of service levels, productivity targets, and cost initiatives. Monitor production progress using various metrics, such as quotas, lineup adherence, on-time launch, rework rates, etc.
  • Develop revised schedules responsive to changes in material flow, priorities, constraints, and opportunities. Display capability and urgency in addressing expedited requirements and reprioritization, demonstrating ownership and accountability.
  • Lead weekly scheduling meetings with the Manufacturing team from thermal treat. Communicate and present critical success factors in a clear and concise manner, while ensuring an effective and mutually agreeable solution when possible.
  • Contribute to evaluation of lead time by working with the Capacity Planning team as necessary to establish processing times, rework rates, and overall capacity of the thermal treat assets.
  • Promote collaboration and transparency with Manufacturing and Met QA by spending time in the mill and working across silos to communicate priorities and to solicit important information.
  • Leverage best practices and identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement with an emphasis on process efficiencies in Production Planning and Thermal Treat Manufacturing.
  • Address revisions to thermal treat routings due to quality events that occur in manufacturing and determine subsequent impact to overall production plan.
  • Support the department by filling in when necessary for other functions within the team, like Met Lab Scheduling. Also, fill in for the Manager Production Planning and Scheduling in case of absence and represent the Production Planning team while working with counterparts in Manufacturing, Met QA and Commercial.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related with at least 4 years of experience in Supply Chain, Demand Planning, or Operations Management.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related with at least 2 years of experience in Supply Chain, Demand Planning or Operations Management
