The Power Systems Field Service Journey Technician works with no direct supervision in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing generators at the customer’s site. The Field Service Journey Technician will perform at 100% of time allotted.
Pay Rate: $36.50 - $41.56 per hour. Pay is dependent on education and experience.
Essential Functions:

Prepares and submits accurate and complete service reports daily
Prepares and completes all related PM inspection forms and generator packages-startup documents
Effectively communicates with customers, manager and office personnel verbally and in writing
Correctly informs service clerk, service coordinator or management of changes in scope of work and charges work to appropriate work order segments. Advises coordinator when leaving job site if other work is required
Uses SIS (Service Information System) and requests correct parts. Properly uses Caterpillar resources, laptop, com adapters, and all tooling associated with job duties
Keeps and maintains all information while on a job and utilizes current field office processes to retain and track information
Performs work in a safe and professional manner. Keeps truck, all tooling, customer site and work area clean when departing work area
Actively participates in the Wagner safety culture to include completing job safety assessments, near miss reporting and all safety training
Communicates effectively with Service Writer, Field Coordinators and Field Service Managers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed
Promotes corrective repairs and services to customers. All warranty concerns are discussed with Field Manager before being discussed with customer and is determined by Caterpillar warranty is applicable
Analyzes customer repair and maintenance requirements on engine and generator or ATS
Performs work accurately within close proximity of estimated amount, Customer Service Agreement (CSA), or others with no rework
Stays current with developments in tooling, technologies and systems
Working knowledge of generator control panels, automatic transfer switches, synchronize and parallel operation, REDCO gauge-EMCP4, ASCO-MX150, ISO
Generator and voltage regulators, brushless SR4-LC, tray-CDVR
In-depth knowledge of Cat gas engines, legacy stoichiometric through National Service Performance Standard (NSPS) to include air/fuel ratio control to meet local regulatory requirements, G3300-G3600
Stays current in technical training
Highly proficient using SIS, TMI, Power Net, GERP
Provides direction, training, mentoring and guidance to other technicians as needed
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
1-3 years administrative/clerical experience
3-5 years customer service experience
3-5 years sales experience
5+ years technical or mechanical experience
3-5 years High voltage/ Low voltage experience
5+ years servicing heavy equipment

DOT Health Card
Class D Driver’s License
MSHA License
