Job Description:

Michael Baker International is seeking to hire a full-time Project Manager III to be a part of our growing Illinois Team. In this role, you will act independently, plan, direct, and lead activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives of the the projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine scope, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Establishes work plan for large and complex projects, arranges for staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Develops/implements project plans/methodologies for large, multi-discipline and significantly complex projects.
  • Confers with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority; Manages the resources of the project including all indirect resources.
  • Leads and directs activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Performs advanced strategic analysis of project management development and success to align with company goals and strategies.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares project reports for management, client, or others, and perform complex cost management analysis.
  • Develops and maintains client engagement to ensure satisfaction; acts as a strategic partner with clients.
  • Identifies, influences, and negotiates with clients into winning work (new work added) for future projects.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems; Manages and coaches the team at an advanced level.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Conducts safety meetings and training programs to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Generate and/or approve purchase orders, rebills, credits, reviews timesheets.
  • Occasional to moderate travel may be required.
  • Supervises employees and indirect external project staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum professional requirements include:


  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field required
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Illinois
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience working on roadway design projects (IDOT projects preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively on all levels, internal and external
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of transportation projects and programs with a successful history of delivery from both a technical and financial perspective
  • Ability to conceptualize and think creatively
  • Ability to assess risk and creatively develop mitigating strategies
  • Ability to apply effective use of project contingencies for both budgets and schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams across multiple offices and with several subconsultants
  • Establish clear lines of communications within project team and with client for free flow of information
  • Keen understanding of team dynamics and strengths to assign tasks properly and efficiently
  • Demonstrated intimate familiarity with client's requirements, challenges, and key areas of interest for growth
  • Demonstrated ability to properly address and manage change
  • Demonstrated mastery of problem-solving, negotiations and decision making
  • Experience with highway design software, including but not limited to Bentley's Microstation, Geopak, and Openroads Designer as well as MS Office software.
  • Ability to mentor engineering staff
  • Strong client relationships and the ability to participate in business development and proposal preparation is desired
  • A PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is encouraged but not required
  • Participation in industry related professional societies is encouraged

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $126,571- $197,690 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
