Job Description: Essential Duties: Repair electrical mining equipment and facilities. Inspect, test and maintain all electrical equipment on the mine site, including substations, electric motors, breakers, transformers, shovels, draglines and coal handling electrical equipment and systems. Handle distribution and layout of all electrical cable for the electric machinery and systems at the mine. Connect, disconnect and switch high voltage power cables. Troubleshoot motor control circuits, PLC, and digital drive control systems. Examine tools and equipment for safety and install safety devices in compliance with MSHA standards. Operate and maintain electrical maintenance truck, cable reeler, cable tractor, bucket truck and digger truck to travel throughout the mine site. Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of MSHA laws and the National Electrical code. Must be able to read, understand, and use blueprints, sketches, diagrams and manuals. Certified as MSHA Green Card Electrician or ability to obtain certification. Education and Experience: On-the-job training or vocational training.
