JOC IT Technician
Aleut has an exciting opportunity to join a motivated, organized, and highly technical team in support of USSPACECOM in the Colorado Springs, CO area! Aleut is looking for experienced Cyber/IT Specialists with a robust IT background to support the United States Space Command Joint Operations Center (JOC). The JOC IT staff ensures successful daily operations, high performance and productivity, and customer satisfaction throughout three shifts to maintain 24/7 JOC operations. This position will support software functions, network connectivity/ troubleshooting, VTC operations/maintenance, user account creations, and IT issue resolution, and ensure new and updated systems are properly configured, documented, and installed. This position provides mission-critical support to space operations, deconfliction, and planning activities through collaboration with existing federal cyber centers, creates synergies that do not currently exist, centralizes command and control of space operations, and synchronizes warfighting effects to defend the information security environment. Our team will assist USSPACECOM with improving the DoD's capabilities for its Information Networks ("the DODIN") and ensuring resilient, reliable information and communication networks, providing support to Combatant Commanders across the globe, strengthening the nation's ability to withstand and counter space threats. These positions require shift work to support 24x7x365 operations.
Responsibilities:
Perform entry-level IT administration and functions such as, user adds, moves and deletes, backup and restore, preventive maintenance, and upgrades
Assist with the planning and coordination of software and applications upgrades and Web (SharePoint) development
Installs, upgrades, and configures computers and peripherals including modems, printers, disk drives, memory and other system boards, keyboards, and monitors
Provides initial assessment, research, and resolution of basic incidents and requests regarding the use of application software products and infrastructure components
Addresses and resolves or coordinates resolution of basic and complex incidents and requests and logs all incidents and requests
Design architectures to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces
Ensure systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems and DOD architectures
Determine and identify high-level functional and technical requirements based on interactions with the user community and knowledge of the enterprise architecture
Identify, assess, and present options for meeting the functional and technical requirements including hardware and software updates or upgrades
Interact with project management to plan project schedules and technical direction
Provide recommendations during the selection of development tools
Create a positive client support experience and build relationships through deep problem understanding, ensuring timely resolution
Monitor systems and peripheral equipment, system processing, and error listings to maintain control of hardware and software malfunctions
Prepare Situational Awareness, incident reports, and operational update briefs
Participate and provide input for Command exercises
Update training plans, SOPs, and related policies, directives, and instructions related to USSPACECOM operations and procedures
Contribute input to assessments of ongoing operations against the Commander's objectives to inform senior leadership of mission success or failure
Review and input data from/into the help desk ticketing system via the ServiceNow tool
Manage high-level customer complaints and provide immediate resolution
Assist to and coordinate with the Executive Communications team
Manage, schedule, and operate VTC activities conducted on the JOC
Oversee issuance of IT equipment
Oversee troubleshooting and installation of IT equipment as required
Support VIP / Executive Staff site visits
Support USSPACECOM exercises and schedule accordingly
Engage relevant functional and technical teams for assistance when necessary
Cross-train to support specific roles and surge activities
Cross-train with the ability to support Executive Comms, CSD, and JOC functions
Provide status reports, metrics, and trending reports to leadership
Follow corporate policies
Analyze the system needs of the organization
Maintain system security on the computers and the network as a whole
Assign and update security permissions for the system network
Optimize and evaluate the systems regularly
Perform necessary upgrades and repairs
Review/reset priorities to address the client's mission and high-priority initiatives
Build and maintain relationships with other groups to accomplish client objectives
Perform problem-solving tasks when alerted by a user
Able to collaboratively work with adjunct organizations that also work closely to develop/tailor the system environment
Train or direct users on the correct use of software and hardware
Requirements:
TS Security Clearance with eligibility for SCI
Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or training/work experience.
Security+ (SEC+) CE Certification or equivalent
At least three (3) years of government contracting, civil service, or military experience required
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in VTC troubleshooting and support
Must have experience interacting with technical and government stakeholders
Top-notch written and interpersonal skills
Good client management skills
Ability to multi-task
Preferred:
Experience with ServiceNow
ITIL certification
Thinklogical, DICES, and CRESTRON experience
VTC scheduling and troubleshooting experience; Crestron Technician certification and/or Thinklogical Tech 300 certification or higher level relevant certification
Previous experience in a 24/7 operational environment
