The Department of Religious Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Miami, is soliciting applications for individuals interested in possible part-time teaching positions during the academic year (maximum two courses in a semester).


The Department is particularly interested in applicants able to teach in the fields of Hebrew Bible (including biblical archaeology), New Testament, ancient and Jewish history, Islam, Asian religions, comparative religions, religious ethics and current social issues, psychology of religion, sociology of religion, and Roman Catholicism. Duties for instructors will include teaching courses at the undergraduate level, and a minimum of three hours per week of office hours per course to meet with students.


Minimum qualifications: one-year College teaching experience is preferred; a Doctorate in Religious Studies or related discipline relevant to course being taught, thorough knowledge of the relevant sub-field, and competence in the general area of Religious Studies. Applications will be reviewed as received, and this pool will remain open throughout the academic year. An appointment/offer is contingent upon student demand (enrollments) and available funding, with the possibility that final confirmation will not be available until classes begin.
