What You Will Do:


As the Senior Manager, Logistics, you will be responsible for leading the Waco Work Tools Distribution Center. This role handles critical activities including attaining safety, employee engagement, quality, production efficiency, and shipping/receiving functions, operating at levels which meet customers' needs and established financial benchmarks. This position requires a value-based, strategic, high-energy individual with both stamina and mental quickness to be able to work and thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • As the top priority, maintain and grow a Safety Focused culture and work environment.
  • Ensure that all security and compliance requirements for the site are consistently met.
  • Leading the day-to-day operation with support of management team.
  • Responsible for policies and programs, which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability.
  • Managing operations performance to ensure KPI's and financial targets are achieved.
  • Responsible for distribution operation processes which include but are not limited to receiving, storage, order filling, packing, shipping, quality control, inspection, inventory counts and related functions.
  • Developing and implementing operations changes to improve performance.
  • Preparing budget and objectives and various reports.
  • Building a collaborative relationship with dealers, suppliers, contractors, internal customers, process partners, and the community.
  • Responsible for all employee related activities of the facility.
  • Working with HR Manager, when appropriate, to recruit, select, develop, and train staff.
  • Maintaining the site property and oversight of maintenance and janitorial services.
  • Purchasing and maintaining equipment, vehicles and procuring office and storeroom supplies.
  • Working with management team to develop/review operational procedures and quality plans to ensure the operation complies with local government requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.
What You Have:
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Utilizes preferred tools, techniques, and methods for estimating project cost and time. Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes, and monitors significant projects. Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans. Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients. Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties. Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
  • Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes, and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers. Maintains warehouse equipment and facilities. Performs basic warehousing activities such as receiving, putting away, picking, packing, and shipping merchandise. Analyzes and documents key performance indicators of warehouse management in own area. Assists in implementing mechanization approaches and techniques in a distribution center. Collects and translates the business requirements for specifications of warehouse management systems.
  • Distribution Center Management: Knowledge of distribution processes, issues, and considerations; ability to effectively manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of inventory to stores and/or customers. Participates in distribution network analysis and network modeling activities. Manages all aspects of one or more distribution centers. Continues to mechanize distribution center activities. Explains and walks through a complete distribution center network; participates in design. Assesses alternative distribution designs and considerations for demand and source locations. Implements tools for sharing inventory and distribution information with other computer systems.
  • Inventory Management: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products. Coordinates daily work of inventory management for different locations within a facility or a supply network. Devises standard inventory management benchmarks to improve the processes. Ensures that the inventory is at an appropriate level and meets both internal and external requirements. Provides guidance on inventory management for a specific product group or location. Applies systems and processes to identify and coordinate inventory requirements; resolves conflicts. Reviews reports used for inventory management to find out related problems.
  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools, and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials, and supplies. Develops and analyzes logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory. Manages logistics processes through process improvement, prioritization, and project planning. Implements and maintains monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date. Works with historical, legislative, and practical issues associated with domestic freight. Participates in contract negotiations and interfaces with selected carriers necessary to maintain expected levels of service. Consults on all major logistics processes, their interactions, and operational requirements.
  • Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices, and tools for controlling the whole processes. Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain. Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities. Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions. Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products. Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
What Will Set You Apart:
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Experience with both interpreting and analyzing financial and operating statements.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management systems.
  • 6 Sigma Black Belt Certification
