Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in accounting/finance/business related degree; or a minimum seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing a team is preferable. Experience in construction accounting a plus. This team member must be physically present in the Lexington office.

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Responsible for financial reporting of NexGen Contracting as senior most financial role at newly formed self-perform construction entity. NexGen is currently 100% owned by Gray Construction, Inc, headquartered in Lexington, KY.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including journal entries, reconciliations, and other typical, period-end accounting schedules. Identify and resolve issues within sub-systems (fixed assets, inter-company balances, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.) to assure and improve accurate and timely output.
  • Manage all month-end, quarter-end and year-end processing activities related to company transactions timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for company general and administrative budgeting process and reporting. Work collaboratively with senior management, project teams and other departments to ensure that timely and appropriate information is communicated effectively and solicit ideas for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain and implement systems, procedures and policies consistent with ethical and sound accounting and internal control practices and company policies and guidelines to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financials. Work closely with Gray Construction, Inc finance and accounting team to align parent company financial reporting, internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Manage all accounting functions and interfaces with external systems, including but not limited to UKG Payroll, Textura Payment; Concur Expense; FAS Fixed Assets, Fifth Third ACH; and Fifth Third Credit Card. Experience with CMiC a plus.
  • Prepare month-end Work in Progress schedule with reconciliation to financial statements and associated journal entries .
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable including providing direct support during peak periods and absences.
  • Payroll processing managed by Gray Construction, however, this team member will be responsible for all payroll job cost entries, recording payroll into ERP System and reconciling all payroll reporting, including, but not limited to payroll tax and benefit liability accounts.
  • Responsible for the management of the Accounts Payable function and team. The payables processing is primarily within a cloud-based integrated accounting system and includes: vendor setup, credit applications, contract processing, subcontractor payments, vendor payments, consultant payments, inter-company cash transfers, employee reimbursements and management of the credit card program.
  • Maintain proper licensing for secretary of state, business licenses, payroll reporting, contractor’s licensing and sales tax reporting for growing company working in multiple states.
  • Coordinate with Gray Construction tax department on sales tax issues for both customer billing and vendor invoices. Responsible for state and federal tax reporting to parent company for tax returns.
  • Manage online treasury product and cash balances daily.
  • Organize efforts during annual company audit by providing relevant information and documentation as needed. Assist with special projects, as necessary.
  • Must possess advanced computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail and scheduling applications. May require knowledge of applications specific to the department. Must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.
