Responsibilities

Responsible for managing administrative & human resource functions at the College of Nursing (CON) including employment/recruitment, compensation, classification, and training & staff development.



  • Responsible for managing all HR transactional functions for the College of Nursing and its respective schools, centers and institutes. This includes recruiting, hiring, job opening packets, generating offer letters and contracts, I-9's, onboarding, personnel actions, terminations, funding changes, position description changes/updates, evaluations, benefits, time & leave, family medical leave, workers compensation for CON.

  • Assists new employees with onboarding and monitoring the hiring process to completion. Manages active appointment reports, spreadsheets, and payroll cost center reports, ensuring accurate and timely data.

  • Responsible for researching and initiating processes required to correct errors and ensure proper payroll payments. Maintains departmental personnel files in compliance with Federal, State, and University laws, policies, and guidelines. Serves as the primary FACET representative.

  • Interprets, recommends and implements policies and procedures with the deans and other management personnel to ensure adherence to federal, state, university, and college laws, rules, policies and business practices. Responsible for ensuring HR compliance at the College of Nursing. Serves as a resource for all Nursing supervisors to ensure they have a good understanding of the University policies and procedures. Guides and advises supervisors through the recruiting process.

  • Manages appointment spreadsheets and provides regular rate management staffing reports to college leadership to track faculty and staff rate.

  • Serves as liaison with other University departments and interacts with fiscal, human resource, academic personnel, and administrators throughout the College and University. Serves as back-up Purchasing rep, Travel rep, and P-Card proxy the College.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining an emergency management plan for the College of Nursing. Maintains and inspects Artificial External Defibrillator (AED) machines on a quarterly basis.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • The candidate must be able to provide excellent customer service in an academic environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups and/or individuals verbally or in writing.

  • Experience with using the OMNI system and Microsoft applications.

  • Experience handling multiple work assignments simultaneously and prioritizing based on departmental need.

  • Can complete independent research and create reports.

  • Has previously worked in an academic environment.

  • Previous experience supporting human resource actions including recruitment, time & leave, onboarding/offboarding, personnel changes, etc.
