The School of Entrepreneurship within the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University (OSU) invites applications for all ranks for an Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor of Professional Practice position starting August 2023. Rank will be based on experience and record of achievement.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will teach a variety of entrepreneurship courses likely including some combination of Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Business Model Discovery, Imagination, Entrepreneurial Marketing, The First 100 Days, Social Entrepreneurship, Women and Minorities in Entrepreneurship, Global Entrepreneurship, and the Riata Internship Program at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels. This position is based at our Stillwater, OK campus, and the successful candidate may teach at both our Tulsa and Stillwater campuses and may teach in both face-to-face and online formats.

This position will also involve service engagements. The primary services involve working with students, faculty, and staff across campus who may be trying to launch a business or trying to grow a business. The candidate would be expected to help student teams with writing business plans, coaching for investor presentations, and participation in business plan competitions. Other expected service involves engagement with the entrepreneurial ecosystem including the state's incubators, venture capital funds, angel investors, support organizations such as i2E and various Chambers of Commerce.

Additional services provided could include entrepreneurship curriculum design, AACSB and other accreditation and assessment of learning procedures, alumni relations, and prospective student engagement.

The successful candidate will teach 18 Credit hours per academic year, depending on other job duties.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant should have extensive entrepreneurial experience either through having started a company of significance or other direct entrepreneurial interactions through positions such as Angel Investor, Venture Capitalist, member of a support service organization, or other position as may be relevant.

The successful applicant will be a creative and effective teacher capable of contributing to the school's undergraduate and graduate programs.  The department teaches courses in all areas of entrepreneurship. Applicants should be able to teach in more than one of these areas at the undergraduate or graduate level.

In addition, the Professor of Practice faculty member will be expected to maintain either professional or academic qualifications. The position begins in August 2023 for the 2023/2024 academic year. The appointment is for three years and can be renewed.  

Required Qualifications:

·         A minimum of 5 years of relevant private sector experience ·         Possess, at minimum, a master's degree in Business or related field (or a foreign equivalent) ·         Willingness and desire to work with students.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         At least 10 years of relevant private sector experience ·         Doctorate in Entrepreneurship or related field ·         Teaching experience at the University level
