Position Details: CDC HOP Extension Educator with a full-time, 12-month assignment over a 5-year grant, soft funded project period, with a start date of October 2023. The HOP Extension Educator works under the direction of the District Program Specialist and HOP Assistant Extension Specialist, and immediate supervision of the HOP Program Coordinator. The scope of work for the HOP Extension Educator is 100% on the CDC HOP project. Responsibilities include working with community partners to address health disparities related to poor nutrition, physical activity, and obesity using policy, systems and environmental changes to promote food and nutrition security and safe and accessible physical activity in community and early care and education settings.


The position's office location is the County Extension Office in the assigned county. This position covers both Haskell and LeFlore counties and will be housed in one of these. Base annual salary for entry level educators who have a bachelor's degree is $37,000; a master's degree is $41,000. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience.Extension educators hired with only a bachelor's degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master's degree.

Education & Experience Position Qualifications:


Required: 


Bachelor of Science in the area of family and consumer sciences, public health nutrition, public health, obesity prevention programs or closely related field.* Excellent work ethic, highly motivated and a working knowledge of community/public health nutrition and/or obesity prevention programs.
* Ability to plan and facilitate meetings.
* Ability to coordinate activities across community organizations.
* Ability to collaborate with individuals and groups from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
* Ability to work independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelines.
* Ability to organize projects and set priorities to complete tasks within established timelines.
* Ability to adapt well to changing priorities, situations and day-to-day demands.
* Ability to communicate effectively in oral, written and social media forms.
* Ability to organize and maintain project records.
* Ability to collect and retrieve data to prepare program reports.
* Ability to develop proposals to support leveraged funding.


* Valid driver's license; Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.


* Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to foster a professional image of OSU Extension by displaying a positive view of the organization both internally and externally.
