(Contingent upon available funding): 13.50 - 20.00, Hourly Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: Serves as the first point of contact and the face of the Department of Military Studies, Army ROTC, to students, faculty and visitors to OSU. As the OSU staff member for the department, the Administrative Support Specialist helps to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere when greeting visitors and represents the department with professionalism and enthusiasm.  Schedules, greets, and announces visitors.  Assists U.S. Army personnel assigned to OSU in accomplishing administrative, personnel and clerical functions required for departmental operations. Administrative responsibilities include assisting the Army ROTC commander and other assigned personnel, coordinating office activities and work schedules of student employees. Manages department's OSU maintenance and operating fund along with the activity fund.  Maintains office records for the unit. Provides support to the Department Head with numerous administrative tasks by being familiar with university rules and regulations, policies and procedures, personnel structures and protocol. Assists Army ROTC personnel in administration of cadet records and cadet personnel actions in relation to membership and commissioning for cadets. Required Qualifications:


4 years clerical/customer service experience. Completion of the Ambassador Program after hire.


Well versed in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; familiar with web page development and maintenance; familiar with Microsoft Office Publisher.



Preferred Qualifications:


3 years of OSU experience with knowledge of the university's policy and procedures and general accounting and financial practices associated with a state agency.  The person must be a self starter and able to provide guidance to the often changing military personnel on such items.


Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Detail oriented and ability to work in government/university environment. Able to maintain confidentiality.
