The Department of Art and Design at Augusta University is actively searching for two exceptional candidates to join as full-time Lecturers in Foundation Studies. Teaching responsibilities include four courses per semester within the departmental foundation-level curriculum. Studio courses are situated in the department's BFA and BA degree programs (Drawing I, Drawing II, 2D Design, 3D Design, Color Experience & Theory). Upon need, this position will be expected to teach ART 2010, the department's equivalent to art appreciation. Occasionally, these faculty may teach advanced courses in their specific discipline. These two available positions are non tenure-track faculty positions (9-month contract) with duties anticipated to begin in August 2024.



Responsibilities

Required Qualifications


MFA or equivalent terminal degree in the appropriate discipline or its equivalent in training, ability, or experience.


Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:


- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;


- Evidence of ability as a teacher;


- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;


- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,


- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.



Preferred Qualifications


An established record of teaching experience and artistic practice.



Shift/Salary/Benefits


This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.


The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.


Lecturer: $46,000 - $50,000- The salary is subject to availability of funds.
