HIRING SALARY: $31,255.86 - 34,409.93 annually; all salary calculations to start at the minimum salary



HOURS: 8 A.M. 5 P.M., Monday - Friday

MAJOR FUNCTION: The Assistant Production Coordinator is housed on main campus and will report to the Production Coordinator. The Assistant Production Coordinator will be highly responsible for technical work in the operation and supervision of the auditorium including set construction, technical operation of lighting and sound systems, equipment maintenance, and preventive safety operations.




Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:




  • Serves as the primary contact in the absence of the Production Coordinator and answers technical questions about running an event and scheduling events. Evaluates technical riders and set-up requests.




  • Serves as the primary shop and crew manager and supervises all phases of set and scenery construction, including basic painting skills, surface prep, base coating, and some faux finishing. Supervises all phases of lighting, including load-in and basic lighting console programing and provides basic electrical knowledge. Supervises basic audio video practices, including mixing consoles, video projectors, microphones, and cabling practices and uses the computer to accomplish tasks as related to audio and video programs. Supervises technical rehearsals, run of production, and clearing of stage. Creates and reads construction drawings using computer software.




  • Maintains shop tools, inventory, and housekeeping. Maintains auditorium equipment including sound, lights, audiovisual and computers.




  • Serves as the designer for sound, lights, props as needed.




  • Works with outside events managers, crews and other college personnel and college functions in a professional manner; Drives TCC vehicles, such as the operation of a 1 ton dump truck with manual transmission to transport productions equipment as needed; Performs other duties as needed.







MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Associates degree and two (2) years of experience in technical theater productions and/or scene shop supervision. Professional or non-professional related work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. College coursework beyond the associates' degree in a related field may substitute at a rate of thirty (30) semester hours or forty-five (45) quarter hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.




SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of Tallahassee Community College policies and procedures; Budget management; Theatre construction techniques, lighting, and scenic art techniques; Sound reinforcement application; Computer research techniques; planning, organization, and leadership skills. Construction drawing literacy; Use of computer-based drawing programs - CAD/VECTOR WORKS. Scenic, lighting and sound design skills; Self-motivated; Able to lift and carry 50lbs and work at a height of 10 - 25 feet; Drive company vehicle; work independently or with other in achieving goals.
