Job Description:

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Corn, Soybean and Wheat Quality Research
Unit in Wooster, OH is seeking an energetic and motivated applicant for a full-time
Biological Science Technician position.
The incumbent will work within a research team to conduct corn and soybean research to support
the management and detection of important or emerging insect-vectored plant pathogens. The
incumbent will support the development of new management tools and virus resistant
germplasm. They will perform research to support the identification and characterization of
insect-transmitted pathogens of maize and soybean. They will also adapt, modify, or develop
new techniques and/or procedures to satisfy the needs of the research project.
You may qualify for this position if you possess one year of related specialized experience, or
one full year of graduate education in a related field, or a combination of graduate level
education and specialized experience. Specialized experiences for this position include assisting
with experiments or research projects related to plant or plant pathogen research; keeping
detailed records of experimental data; and performing routine and recurring techniques using a
variety of specialized equipment (see announcement on usajobs.gov for full details on
qualification requirements). The ideal candidate is highly organized with strong communication
skills. We are seeking an individual with a diverse background who would use these skills to
support the research unit.
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or National.
The position is a term appointment with an initial duration of no fewer than 13 months and can
