Job Description:

JOB BRIEF
The Operations Manager ensures the flow of product in and out of the warehouse supports the business and operational needs in accordance with the company's standard operating procedures. The Operations Manager will assist the Assistant Store Director in the proper operation of all departments within the store. The Operations Manager is the 3rd person in command in the store and is required to act as role model of professionalism, ethical behavior, and effective decision-making at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the inventory for all non-perishable items including receiving integrity
• Provide the correct order and delivery schedule of DSD vendors to the replenishment team including holiday schedule changes
• Manages the execution of the product flow process and compliance with the SOP
• Conducts daily meetings with the product flow team to ensure proper execution
• Supervise merchandising plans and promotions within the store, established by the Store Director and Management
• Responsible for the control of the store's operating budget for repairs & maintenance, and supplies
• Enforce established programs, which comply with city codes, health regulations, weights and measure regulations to ensure standards in all departments are being met
• Assist with the control of labor cost for department
• Thoroughly understanding all front end and closing procedures
• Responsible for supervision, including oversight of operations department: setting accountabilities, team alignment, achieving execution and providing feedback
• Work closely with the Assistant Store Director in implementing corporate and merchandising strategies; handling store facilities management, ensuring quality control, budget, and overall profit and loss; coaching and assisting department managers, and offering advice on all aspects of store operations
• Communicate with vendors as necessary
• Adhere to all company standard operating procedures and policies
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for customers and employees
• Be proactive in preventing and resolving customer service situations
• Suggest improvements where needed
• Follow safety and security procedures and take precautions to ensure safety in workplace.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise the product flow team consisting of one manager and some non-supervisory employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of shift. Carry out supervisory responsibilities including training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Employees are expected to treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position and accept responsibility for their own actions. To follow instructions, respond positively to management directions and contribute to building a positive team spirit. Complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person. Ask for and offer help when needed. Report to work on time, ready, willing and able to fulfill the requirements of the job.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret, technical procedures, regulations and trends. Must have the ability to read and write and business correspondence, reports, diagrams and memos.
Ability to effectively give and take directions; present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, customers and vendors. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Must be self-motivated. Must be able to effectively manage data entry in multiple systems.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply common sense to understand, carry out and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Education/Experience
High School Diploma, Associates Degree or better preferred
3-5 years in grocery business experience with direct operations experience
1-2 years in a supervisory and operational level position preferred
DAX knowledge preferred
MS office knowledge preferred

Certificates and Licenses
Forklift Certification on multiple vehicles (required)
Food Handling Certification (required)

Intermittently, performed throughout the shift while observing customers in the front end of the store, following up with customer service, or receiving product.

Continuously, performing managerial tasks while moving throughout the grocery store from department to department. Most aspects of this position require walking throughout the store.

C. SITTING:
Rarely, when completing paperwork.

D. CLIMBING:
Less Frequently, on step ladders or ladders to adjust merchandise at the top of cases. Will climb ladders up to the store roof to ensure the roof drains are clear and to allow access to repair personnel such as plumbers or electricians.

E. BENDING:
Continuously, performed throughout the shift: moving merchandise, picking trash up from the floor.

F. KNEELING:
Rarely, performed while accessing lower levels of merchandise or displays.

G. LIFTING:
Under 10 lbs.- Continuously, throughout the shift working with paperwork or signage.
11 to 25 lbs. - Frequently, performed throughout the shift moving merchandise.
26 to 40 lbs. - Frequently, performed throughout the shift moving merchandise.
41 to 55 lbs - Frequently, performed throughout the shift lifting large boxes or merchandise.

Under 10 lbs. -Continuously, moving product from one area to another.
11 to 25 lbs. - Frequently, moving product within the store area.
26 to 40 lbs. - Frequently, moving boxes or bags of product.
41 to 55 lbs - Frequently, moving boxes or bags of product.
Over 55 lbs. - Very Rarely

I. BALANCING:
Rarely, while using a step stool, ladders, step ladders, or using the stand up forklift.

J. PULLING:
Frequently, while pulling both pallet jacks (loaded and unloaded), and six-wheelers (61" wide, 57" tall, 15" deep), pallets, and merchandise.

K. PUSHING:
Frequently, while pushing pallet jack (loaded and unloaded), and six-wheelers (61" wide, 57" tall, 15" deep). Pallet jacks may be loaded with pallets of product. Six-wheelers may be loaded with product. Shopping carts and product or boxes of product.


L. CROUCHING:
Frequently, performed while accessing displays or merchandise at lower levels, moving merchandise such as bags of flour.

M. STOOPING:
Frequently, performed while accessing displays or merchandise at lower levels. Working within the produce area.

N. REACHING:
Above shoulder height- Frequently, while accessing product such as paper towels or other items on higher
shelving. Climbing ladders for access to the roof. At shoulder height- - Continually, performed while working with various departments. Below shoulder height- Frequently, required while stocking product, loading product onto pallets, stacking cases or product. Driving forklift. Working within various departments. Working with paperwork in the office.

O. CRAWLING:
Not Required

P. TWISTING:
Continuously, performed while handling and setting up displays with any type of product movement Loading and unloading boxes or bags of merchandise. Working within the various departments.

Q. EYE, HAND, FOOT COORDINATION:
Frequently, while using computer, pallet jacks, driving forklifts, using scan guns, calculators, knives and box cutters.


MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS:
Computer, printer, calculator, phones, baler, trash compactor, shopping carts, cart retriever, manual pallet jack, electric jack, forklifts, wood pallets, six-wheelers (metal with metal wheels) 61" wide, 57" tall, 15" deep, scan gun, small knives, box cutters.

WORKING AROUND MOVING MACHINERY:
Pallet jacks, forklifts, trash baler.

MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS:
Super market store and warehouse materials conducive to directing the operation of a grocery store.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
100% indoors: and cold temperatures working within the freezer areas where temperatures are 0-35 degrees.
May also work in extreme heat if in the receiving area or in the kitchen area.

Major hand - Dominant hand, continuously, throughout the day while performing all job duties.
Fine Manipulation - Frequently, while working with computer, calculator, or merchandise.
